What other MEAN AND NASTY riffs fit this series? Also, who would you like to see as a guest in a future episode?

Sorry if it's too early, but the song "A World Away" by Tremonti has PLENTY of riffs that make you go 😤 MMMPH. Just what Drop G# does lol. The outro after the solo would be the best to include I think!

I remember Mendel being active on forums, such as Lamb Of God and Necrophagist, back in the mid-2000s. If I recall correctly, back in 2006, he shared a 30 minute or so Egpytian scale inspired metal orchestra that he had written. Absolutely insane.

Some of my personal faves that I don’t remember being played: Sanguisagabogg-“Face Ripped Off” at 0:22 when the drum line changed. So groovy and nasty, especially live. Gojira-“Deliverance” at 0:38. Insane sound for the time. A classic. Whitechapel-“The Saw Is The Law” an all time deathcore classic.

Hey Jojo, that was a great video, and Mendel was I think the perfect guest to start this new format (I LOVED the 3rd riff from his "solo stuff" and I'm going to give that a listen right now). For a suggestion, this is a perfect segue with Mendel since this band is going to tour Europe opening for Aborted in 2025 : have you ever considered a song from the ladies in Crypta? They're genuinely the coolest band I've discovered in years (death metal with some strong thrash and even black metal notes I'd say). I'd suggest checking a riff from the songs Poisonous Apathy, The Other Side of Anger (just after the acoustic intro) or Trial of Traitors. Cheers !

I would personally add the riff at 3:33 in Bodiless Sleeper by Spawn Of Possession. That whole album (Incurso) is full of menacing and technical riffs, but that one is very slow and chunky by contrast. It definitely stands out from the rest of the album, which is still amazing and one of the best technical death metal albums ever made.
@Jeffmetal42Ай бұрын
Props for including a Gateways song, I've always been particularly fond of the Steve Tucker era Morbid Angel tunes. Gateways is such a kick in the teeth. Ofc as a Metallica lifer, I absolutely agree w MoP being one of the best riffs in the history of Metal. If I had to pick a None so Vile tune, it'd be the closing track "Orgiastic Disembowelment". The breakdown in that song is one of the most devastatingly heavy riffs. It hits extra hard with how fast the rest of the song is, I've always been of the opinion that breakdowns should be built up to and dropped like a hydrogen bomb.
@lacalacadevic2887Ай бұрын
I'll keep grinding Thrash until i die. It think that Death Of Innocent by Dark Angel, Destruction System by Morbid Saint, Epidemic Of Violence by Demolition Hammer and lastly, Mass Hypnosis by Sepultura are riffs that need to be here. BUT, as to add some Death Metal, Dechristianize by Vital Remains, Scars Of The Crucifix and Eternal War by Bolt Thrower, are riffs worth of mention

Thank you for highlighting Gateways. Gateways is my favorite MA album. In my top 5. You chose a great riff. But holy fuck, Opening, literally sounds like what the title is. The second half of the album is better than the first to me. Secured, is absolutely insane, And God Of The Forsaken is a perfect way to end the album. Especially with that solo. A 10/10 album.
