The real question is HOW do we fix the gabba after long term benzo use?

It should return to normal eventually. There's no evidence that benzos cause permanent damage to the gaba system. The truth is, once you get sober off benzos you now will have to deal with life again without a cushion. Life = lots of anxiety/depression etc. It's just how modern Life is. I don't know anyone who's really happy and a lot of them have never taken a benzo before. I don't take benzos and I'm anxious a lot of the time. I think if you were on benzos for a long time you "forget" what it's like to be a normal person dealing with anxiety all the time. I think that's why getting sober off drugs that numb pain, like opioids, or anxiety.. like benzos.. is so hard. Because you get used to feeling calm and relaxed a lot of the time and that's just not how we normally feel as human beings dealing with the stress of modern society.

Benzodiazepines do not work in the same way that Barbiturates and Propfol does as you are suggesting in the video. The GABAa receptor is either effected in the frequency in which it opens or in the duration in which it stays open. The subunits (alpha, beta, gamma, etc.) and thier respective variants of a GABA receptor are also important as they vary based on the location within the body.

There are only two binding sites for GABA A receptors. The pore does not change size, only have an open and close state

FLUMAZENIL is a competitive allosteric antagonist of BZDs. It can help to treat BZD overdose/ poisoning.
