For a cracky, mostly nonsensical GMod story narrated entirely in the voices of video game characters, this is honestly really nicely written and engaging. The characters are sympathetic and the script is pretty well-made, and for a plot that contains about as much chaos as your average smexual, it's all presented in a much more "controlled chaos" sort of manner, where you understand that things don't make sense but you also feel like you're able to keep up with it just well enough to enjoy it. Even the intentionally stupid things, like the part where Soldier just comes back to life for no explicable reason, are helped by the fact that they're set in a GMod video and your suspension of disbelief is stretched just far enough that you can see that part and go "oh yeah, he's alive now. That makes sense." In fact, by GMod standards, you're almost kind of spoiling us with how coherent and almost sensible the world is. The motivations of the characters are all consistent, the decisions they make are all rational and never happen for no reason, and the plot knows where it's going without going on detours that last far too long. Everything progresses in a linear fashion, things go smoothly even when not to plan, honestly it's a blessing to shitpost storytelling and that is an entirely new sentence to me. Thank you. (P.S. I'm a big fan of that Cow character. Will we ever see any more of him? I adore him.)
@somewhatreal50612 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. When writting these stories I try to give characters clear goals they have to work towards to keep them a little more grounded and coherent, while all the chaos and nonsense that happens along the way serves as a counterbalance to that. Basically, the more rational a character is, the crazier things get around him, like in Lazybones for example, the Soldier gets crazier and crazier the more the Scout tries to reason with him. But in the end, these are Gmod videos, so things aren't supposed to be taken seriously and characters won't question why things are the way they are xD Also, I've always felt like a lot of TF2 animators were limited in what types of videos they can make due to having to work with pre-recorded voice lines. That didn't stop them from creating amazing videos and shitposts because they're talented as hell, but the freedom 15.ai gives pushed me to creating stories that are a little bit more consistant when it comes to the "rules" that apply to the characters and their world, it's almost like I'm making a cartoon of my own using the TF2 mercs, and that's fun as hell.
@Zicolie2 жыл бұрын
@@somewhatreal5061 well whether we’re supposed to take these seriously or not your channel will always have a special place in my heart because you represent what KZbin is supposed to be: A platform for creative individuals who make what they love with a bonus of money. I guess your learning quick around Gmod I take it? Second, the thumbnails. I just love it with each video you make. Third. The story catch my full attention seeing the backstory of the Spy Cow and even at the ending! Oh, I can already sense some signs of a continuation of this story guess there's more then meets the eye? The story you made script for this story and the characters is acherry on top! Hell you got me to chuckling by the Spy Cow showing up to the medic! And lastly, I'm actually shock that you can animated the pumpkin face. This is my first time seeing something like this in any other Gmod videos! Really! I'm so freaking glad that I Subscribed to you, Real! Cause your 15.AI videos are becoming more more interesting and story wise! It's always the SAME THING with the 15.AI videos. Like... "Team Argues about or Political Debate... Along with Demoman finds out." We need something fresh and new, rather then making the exact same video with... Whatever it may be! We definitely need more people like you to make these sorts of videos like these (Storywise or any other stuff). Keep doing a fine damn job and keep doing what you do best at! 👍
@somewhatreal50612 жыл бұрын
Thank you a lot. I've actually had some experience with 2D animation from my early days online, I used to animate on Flash and a little program called Pivot, and I even played around with Gmod animation a little bit a looooong time ago (hell, TF2 still recieved major updates at the time, and the "first generation" of TF2 KZbinrs was still at it's peak, before some of the biggest folks moved on) So I understand the fundamentals of animation (more or less xD) and that helps a lot, but animating in Gmod is different from animating in flash. Also, I think 15.ai grants a lot of creative freedom to creators since we're no longer limited to the in game voice lines, and while I think a lot of the more common 15.ai videos are quite hysterical and funny, I'm more interested in making little stories, lika some sort of TF2 cartoon made in Gmod.
@TheLittleKittyCat2 жыл бұрын
@@somewhatreal5061 Ohhhh. So that's how you made the pumpkin, I seriously thought you modeling it to make it having a face to move the mouth and eyes! Well done! And for 15.ai. True. But I always want to see something new once in awhile (Like a crossover) rather then then making the same story with a different thing. Hell I really wonder what's the batch of characters that are going to be in 15.ai~ It's Always open for more stories for people to make. If there's more characters, 15.AI will surely catch more attention.

I didn't think I could come to love a cow with the head of the TF2 Spy, but Cow stole the show as being so incredibly nice, honest, and loyal. I'll admit that my first concerns about such a being lined up with how the Medic felt, it is a cow with the head of a human after all. But at every turn Cow was such a good and immediate friend that I couldn't help but fall in love with him. There were moments too, over and over that you presented opportunities for a shoe drop or betrayal. Why was Cow still locked in there if he had the key? Why didn't Soldier like cows? Wait, Cow was locked in that dimension on purpose? Over and over. But Cow was just a nice guy with a physical disability that he was fighting to not let define him. And in the end all he wanted was equality back home. A meaningful goal to strive for, a meaningful character goal to achieve, and I was excited to see him get everything he wished for in the end. Thanks Somewhat Real, what an awesome video. I'm sticking around, let's see what you can do!
