It really is. Pandering is in full effect and there's always a certain demographic that screams they hate identity politics yet they're always walking around with white lives matter shirts, "Back the Blue" bumper stickers, Jooze will not replace us tiki torches, and complain about anything that doesn't center their whiteness. Which is why whenever they start talking about DEI or wOkE I roll my eyes because that's just the new dog whistle. They spent centuries being mediocre and now that BIPOC are getting a waiting bench in the lobby (because ain't nobody getting a seat at the table) They want to whine and cry after they told us to pick ourselves up by the bootstraps 🙄🙄🙄

Something just rubs me the wrong about how Kamala's team utilises black people & black culture figures. As an ex-law enforcement person it definitely looks like she's saying "see black people? I'm cool!". But i'm also not American so my knowledge is a little limited...

As an Australian and outsider in American politics, I think celebrities are jumping in more recently because American politics have been becoming more and more polarising, and voting is optional. Celebrities use their influence for their own benefit (human rights) and often as a stunt to look like a good person. America isn’t the centre of the universe but it feels like it is sometimes

9:36 it's actually just The Chicks now, because they were apparently unaware of what Dixie was when they took the name, and they wanted to renounce any connection to that in any way.

i have so many opinions on this. firstly thank you for making this video to get the convo started. honestly, where i see it is we are heading in a really scary direction with the "memeification" of campaigns. and we have had it for politics, i've even done it myself, but something about this just feels so icky. we don't know what kamala's policies exactly are. what we do know, isn't looking good. democrats are getting tighter on immigration which is something they have republicans flack for just a few years ago for similar views. her website is all just about donations (as of now), and the only policy i've heard her speak on is project 2025. while project 2025 IS serious, it just feels like an extension of internet culture and appealing to the youth. but what is she actually appealing besides "im not trump"? fear can never be a forceful factor to get people to actually vote, and neither is memes. i didn't like biden but i voted for him because of some of his policies including his covid policy. i watched how a lot of it didn't come to fruition. and yeah some of it isn't his fault but the point is we don't even see promises anymore. and as for the celebrities, i don't like them going to rallies because it all feels like a smokescreen. i get why meg did it in atlanta, clearly, and i understand the importance of celebs saying "hey you should go vote" but going so hard to be part of a specific party's campaign feels icky. instead of memeing or performing, TALK ABOUT THE POLICIES YOU WANT. which leads me to being pissed off my charlie xcx most. she's british. why is she here? it's not like she's someone who will be vastly impacted like people from the global south. i've seen more backlash from people from the global south (and american diaspora from there) having pushback on kamala/ raising these questions than for a british celebrity who is probably a millionaire making a meme out of these politics to promote her album. and i hate how it's working. the fact of the matter is kamala still supports a genocide. and i'm not saying we shouldn't vote for her, but we are losing the proper public OUTCRY and CRITICISM for politicians (not celebrities- politicians) because memes are getting in the way. We have lost the ability as citizens to use LEVERAGE. like meet our demands and at least make these promises FIRST then i promise you the memes will come. but it coming from a politician when many of the youth are so upset for a variety of reasons (abortion, immigration, cost of living, genocide, etc) its so very bleak. maybe its bc i cant afford things like i used to and for the last ten months ive seen dead kids on my social media by american bombs, but its so bleak. no meme can erase that & it just pisses me off even more

I feel like politicians have always done this but it's gone full mask off now. They've realized that they don't want to make promises they know they can't keep because that just disappoints their voters, but what they can always deliver on is saying "at least I'm not the other candidate". In a way it almost benefits a political party to have their opposition running the most horrible candidate they can think of. Candidates find it easier to try and have people vote for them because they fear the opposition more, than to have to put in the work to give voters positive reasons to vote for them. But I agree I don't think that's actually as good a motivator as they think it is. All it does is screw over everyone involved. I agree with you, we haven't heard enough about Harris's actual policies and I'm really worried that she's going to lose to Trump 1) bc she's a woman (I hate that that matters but I think it's a unignorable part of the reason he beat Hillary), 2) he's had years now to build up a faithful following of people who will always vote for him whereas Harris hasn't, and 3) she just straight up doesn't have enough time to develop good policies and get the word out about them that would draw voters in. Plus her PR is frankly a nightmare and she's just not as gifted with rhetoric as some other potential candidates. I hate Trump's style of speaking with a passion but you can't argue that he doesn't have a style that clearly does resonate with some voters. Plus people are pissed about how many of Biden's promises were broken while Harris was VP. It ticks me off that the Democrats have wasted so much time twiddling their thumbs and suppressing any potential young new representatives Biden could have been talking up and supporting for the last year, and now they're scrambling at the last minute as if this outcome was something no one saw coming 🙄.

this reminds of like around 2016ish election campaign there were so many memes of Trump but it feels like the memes helped him in a way even though they often were making fun of him cause they kind of made him out to be more of a joke than a genuine threat it’s such an odd choice for them not to disclose any promises and policies especially so close to election day just running on fearmongering (cause ooo trump scary lesser of 2 evils) and vibes it somehow feels super calculated, apathetic, and lazy at the same time

lol y'all lucky. I wish we had this kinda unseriousness in India during the elections. Me and my family were praying while we were walking towards the voting booth, because we live in a opposition area of the party we support. People die here, get beaten to death.

Hey Tinysey, just found your channel and am loving your content. I was at Kamala's kick off (private) event in Sacramento when she was running for AG. She had pole dancers at her event. Let me be clear, I love Megan the Stallion and am not comparing her to an adult performer, but this is to say Kamala is no stranger to things that could be called "inappropriate" at campaign events. In response to one of the TikTokers about how this "speaks to the degeneration of American politics", electeds used to be in the Klan so....idk y'all.

The endorsement from Megan could’ve been a little more silent like just her saying she endorses Kamala 😅 but hey! We know where she stands! Idk this is a political rally not a presidential inauguration yet so I think it’s fine to have fun with the political rally, people are excited for a Lady President rightfully so and this time there’s a chance she could actually win, the numbers are looking good 😊

I agree. I know they want to appeal to the youth. We don't have a year to prepare We have mere weeks til election day. When Biden was still running I was definitely withholding my vote. Now that he's dropped out and Copmala is running I'm a little more energized. I'm NGL and say I wouldn't have wanted her to give a speech. She's a recent grad she could have spoken to student debt or violence that black women face at the hands of black males. But idk let Meg throw it in a circle if she wants.

From my perspective the critique of Meg the Stallion's performance also stems from the fact that Kamala is a WOC facing gender based (and misogynoir coded) attacks that imply she slept her way to the top and used sexuality for political gain. And for Black women leaders who constantly face those kinds of accusations, and try to be taken seriously in these spaces, it's just annoying to always have the representation of us be so hyper-sexualised. And so to also have that be the imagery at a historic political campaign just also felt exhausting- like can we be seen as empowered in other ways? So I think it goes beyond respectability politics if you see it from that POV
