It gets better. My quarter life crisis sucked and it was a tough few years but it does get better. Eventually life thankfully calms down or at least there is a better ability to work with life. To reiterate: it'll get better.

Also on a lower scale, I feel like a lot of creative content like books have become very dependent on AI lately and it’s so sad to see. Like there is so many books nowadays that you start to read and it’s like you can there was little to no human input at all. It’s just so poorly written or too ‘perfect’ and it comes off so odd and just doesn’t give that good book vibes anymore.

The idea of being held back is an extremely US phenomenon. The effect of holding students back isn't that the student learns and catches up - its that they're bigger and more bored the next year.

There are plethora of problems with behaviour within schools and the harsh reality is that the majority of them are caused by parents, either being too strict or not being strict enough and no one having the balls to say that the issue is their parenting. They are just given a label (ADHD) and handed back to the schools to deal with. No responsibility is taken by the parents. Teachers are walking away because there is no amount of money that you can give them for their physical/emotional health. Because the root of the problem has not been addressed you are now in a situation where it is likely that there will not be enough teachers for the amount of children and young people will be leaving education without the necessary basic qualifications/skills to deal with the real world as adults.

These kids obviously grew up with rich parents. Most people who grew up in poverty would kill to get six figure corporate jobs. Giving up a job like that just to work minimum wage is unthinkable to anyone except the very privileged.

I’m still struggling in San Francisco where I was born at 52. Never could afford a house, back then and still somewhat blame it on the greedy Techs. My parent could afford a house with 8 kids and my Mother was a housewife. Maybe Gen z is going to change things for the better.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying....Regarding worklife, I think that the older generations actually did have it a lot harder in some instances, but that was a cultural norm and it wasn't something to aspire to either. My grandfather was working 7 days a week - you mentioned holidays, clothes, splurging sometimes - they were middle class and they didn't do any of those things, ever. I don't think my father went on an international holiday until his 50s..? And that was kind of just typical. Im not saying that's something that Gen Z should be wanting, but I think people are starting to forget the past. The Children and Young Persons Act was only brought out in Britain in 1933 to officially stop child labour under 14 yrs. That's less than 100 years ago. Also, my grandparents + people of my parents generation were drafted in multiple wars. My grandmother talks about living in a time when it was 50/50 you were going to catch Polio. I'm not saying everything is better now, but I think you're missing a huge nuance to how - sadly - life is always hard in some way or another. And it's our responsibility as citizens to work towards changing things for the better.

…And to the person who wants to be a beverage cart girl at the golf course…. yeah- it’s a sweet gig but like all jobs is easily RUINED by incompetent managers… Be prepared to work up to 16 hour days 6 days a week because the shifts are over staffed and you make no money. Not everything is what it’s cracked up to be. It’s only that good of a job if people aren’t ruining it all the time.

I used to design software now I clean houses. Why? I do it for personal sovereignty. I don’t have to put up with tyrannical bosses making idiotic decisions because they’re out of touch, I’m never stuck working with colleagues who seriously bother me (and get envious and sabotage you), and I can control my own schedule (no more god awful work travel bleh)…. Making a change like this isn’t for the faint of heart. I’m fortunate to also be an artist so people don’t look down on me as much… Oh well. Luckily I care more about my experience of life than what others think of me. Not everyone is like that.

Freedom of expression is about what you say and do yourself. It is not a freedom to put words in other peoples' mouths. No reasonable person would believe a political cartoon that clearly looks like a cartoon, really is the public figure saying what the character says. But a deep faked video is so convincing you need a forensic expert to tell it apart from reality...that needs regulation and should be illegal without consent. As a matter of fact, I'd prefer if it were just illegal outright, as it serves no purpose but to deceive. Require AI generated anything to clearly look like a cartoon, and clearly sound like a robot.

Damn, why does everyone have to take out every single frustration on teachers. My grandparents and uncle talk so much shit about the educatiom system and blame the educators when its so clear they are the only ones trying to establish a better future for our youth. God bless all the men and woman who give their all teaching and get nothing but bullshit in return. You guys deserve more support and less criticism. Not to mention schools being a dangerous place with schools shootings on the rise.

To be honest half of what is discussed in this video is so true. The economy is the first stressor that makes it hard to work and make decent pay. Corporations are build on the old structure, which doesn’t work with modern world. Minimum wage is normal to choose as long as you have a plan. Cuz rather work less but at least do something on the side. Lastly, there are alternatives like blue color jobs which to be honest seem higher in wages than corporations pay. In my opinion, there either will be a large social change in workplace or American economy will simply crush.

That is sad nowadays. Teachers shouldn't be overworked and underpaid. Parents need to discipline kids more, it is a fact. Gen Alpha needs a serious wake up call, they need to get disciplined, they need to learn firm boundaries when it comes to teachers and their peers. Children shouldn't be on Instagram or Social Media. They need to learn their ABC's and 123's, a new language, life skills, respect, kindness.

What drives me crazy about all this is the fact that they create AND buy allll those romantic ideas of ______ (whatever the trending topic is) and when they have to face reality, not only they’re disappointed but make no actual effort to make a change. Yes, I agree with their demands around work-life balance and a healthy environment at work, but acting like quitting is changing something is naive to say the least. Other people will be lining up around the block for that same spot they gave up to “be happier frying burgers”. As if (like you mentioned it) it was such a healthy work space and good enough money to actually survive. If you can count on your parents money or whatever, absolutely! Go get it, do your thing. But needing the money and thinking that the corporate job is the problem is missing the whole point of… capitalism. That’s the real issue, because even if you DO become an entrepreneur, you’ll work like crazy at the beginning of your career until you’re at a secure financial place. Yes, they’re young and I’m sure they’ll work it out and make changes, but it infuriates me to see how they (soooo allegedly smart and understanding of how social media works) 100% fall for romantized videos of an ideal life.

Edit: 7:25 This was the reason why I left my federal government job. No one listened to me, a 23 year old supervisor who worked in the IT department. I couldnt handle it and it was when my ADHD and possible autism symptoms came to light. The boomers and old Gen X hated me and they hated that I wanted change. Oh, and they expected me to study for tech certifications just on my offtime. And i worked by myself for 7 months I make 70k + a monthly VA stipend. I quit a job that was 59k a year to move to a job that had less benefits but my mental health was much better. I have ADHD and autism, so of course, corporate isnt gonna be kind to me. I worked in a pro shop and I *HATED* it so no, I'm not going back to retail unless I really have to. My husband makes 100k and its been stressful but he's gonna move in after at least a year to find something better and that pays more

No one who is working minimum wage has leisure time. We’re all stressing out constantly, hoping our only transportation doesn’t break down on us. Hoping we aren’t late on bills. Looking for another job to add to your current. This is quite an upsetting video coming from a full time MW employee while working on my CS degree. This is such a tone deaf outlook from these people to think our lives are easier or less stressful when they probably have a lot of saving set aside to quite if they wanted…

I worked in education for just over 5 years and towards the end, post-pandemic, things got really tough. It was a constant battle with parents over the phone, verbal abuse etc. Children would tell me about how their mum or dad bad-mouthing us at home and that they don't need to listen. The school leadership was failing and children were getting detentions over stupid things which undermined getting detentions for being disrespectful (I personally don't agree with detentions, but on the contrary they worked for me when I was growing up). My final straw was a child close to school leaver age who had written a very detailed list about which teachers they wanted to do unsavory (and I mean extremely illegal and disgusting) things to, which then got distrubted around to other students. I found out through a student in the form I taught. School did nothing but send the child home for a few days - I was expected to teach this child 1:1. I refused as I felt unsafe (there were previously questionable things this child had done that the school had not punished) and the school leadership berated me until the time I left. I advocated for this child for a very long time, expressed my concern that they were vulnerable and not being monitored at home - the internet is vast and dangerous and I think the issue lies with parents lack of understanding on just what can be accessed. I don't agree with censorship, but I do believe it is their responsibility to monitor exactly what is being digested, to support the conversations that school are trying to open up with grooming, privacy etc. I'm not sure if there is a quick and easy solution - parents need more support whether that be social and emotional or financial, parents need to accept the support without feeling belittled. Teachers, leadership and support staff need to be paid fairly for that continious hours and worry, they need to become valued and respected by society again (something I think was used as a scapegoat in the pandemic, I know not every teacher was perfect, but those that cared about the kids spent extra time putting together workpacks and translating lessons to online). But then education is not the only sector that is failing - so what should be prioritied and where do we start!?
