Thanks Wayne. That one really opened a few doors in my mind. Suddenly I finally understood the relationship between double stops and modes. One of those very important aha! moments.

This is a great video and you are a natural teacher. Thanks. One other thing; am I the only one who notices that you look (and sound) like Woody Harrelson?

Wayne, thanks for this video and the others on modes. I've watched this 5 or 6 times now to capture all the richness, and now see how what you showed in our 1:1 expands across the fretboard. On to other keys!

Thank you, Wayne - and what an HOSS that Gil is! Big, wide open-sounding and lush, even at low revs, as heard here. Yum...

@@waynesworldofmandolin3616 Thanks, Wayne. I look forward to seeing that one. I played a new-just delivered Gil at the 1st mandolin symposium. I'd never heard so much growl from a mandolin - let alone a Glichrist.

Fabulous lesson Wayne! So many ways to use this, so many avenues to explore. If you get a chance check out Niles Hokkanen’s book “Hot Licks for Hot Picks” he devotes a section to Charlie Christian’s use of this scale to generate new ideas. You’re really opening doors now!!!

Hi Wayne. Sorry for a question here that is off-topic, but I really like the song you are playing as an intro to the beginning of this video (and many of your other videos). Are there recordings out there of this song as played by you and other musicians in your band? I would like to have some CDs of this kind of tune(s) that include mandolin. They sound full and uplifting. Do you have recordings featuring yourself with these kinds of selections? If not, then can you perhaps recommend some others? Thank you.

Thx for the comment Anthony! All of the theme music on WWOM is just stuff I've recorded down thru the years in my home studio. You'll find similarities on some instrument cuts I recorded on a project titled Benson. It's available on most streaming platforms. Hope you enjoy.....

Wayne do you have any sheet music on the mandolin showing Tabs for Memphis scale
@waynesworldofmandolin3616
@waynesworldofmandolin3616 2 жыл бұрын
I sure don't Ronald. You might find tab for the scale in 6 on mandolin somewhere and that would be the same interval study. If you find tab and learn the fingerings that way don't forget to process the thought of applying this scale over different modes. That's the big deal with learning it and the tab probably won't include any info that pushes you in that direction. Good luck.....
