According to conflict of laws rules (private international laws rules) such marriges i think can be recognised in Australia. They are legal and legitimate in other part of the world so just because a person moves to australia does not mean the marraiges are invalid. lthough the person would have to register it in sharia cout according to sharia rules. The doc was a little misleading. Polygamy is illegal under British law. The sharia law that governs the followers of Islam permits polygamy. However it is still illegal under the law. I was born into this type of family. Growing up was not good for many reasons. There were 4 wives and my dad. 3 of the wives lived in the same home with there children. The 4th wife lived alone with her children. The jealousy was constant. We never had enough food or anything really but the babies just kept coming. I think its a very selfish situation for all who are involved essentially the children who end up raising eachother because there are so many. In my experience this kind of life sucks and it only really benifits the man.

But in actual practice, there’s jealousy, favoritism, not enough space, not enough food, not enough autonomy. No thank you. His role is to spend quality time with the family. He rotates the time equally spending three nights with each lady. So during the day spends quality time with the children. But they would rather him perform well during intimacy and it worked out well and to his credit has father 11 children. As idiotic as that may be, it's her CHOICE! The whole point of feminism is CHOICE! Even if she chose to never work, go to school, or be a career woman, she has the right as any human being to choose to do that with her life. Would I give up a PhD program for a man? As a muslim i don't understand why these women are doing this to themselves and their children. That's just disgusting, there are enough men out there, why share an unemployed loser, who relies on the state and can't even afford having you, with 2 or 3 other women, why? There is no logical reason for doing this. These men aren't polygynous for religious reasons, they are only polygenous to fulfill their disgusting desires. Every Muslim woman should put the condition, that the man shouldn't marry another wife as long as they're married, on the marriage contract before getting married.

Also about the equality thing - from what I understood giving gifts to your wives is EXACTLY what is meant by treating them equal - not just sharing your time equally. As a muslim I am so confused how they push all these clear conditions to the side as if they don't exist. And one last thing about the woman who wants her husband to herself, where he just laughed it of and says "Well, that's Islam!" - A woman DOES have the right to have her own husband. Just because men are allowed to have more than one wife, doesn't mean that it's obligatory for muslim women to choose that kind of life. Majority of muslim men only marry one wife and it is your right to find yourself a man like that. If you want to be with the man you have, that's fine - but don't let anyone manipulate you into thinking that this is the only option you have as a muslim woman.

Well said. I think all of these women deep down would prefer their own husband over sharing a husband, but maybe desperation or fear of divorce holds them back from speaking their mind. I also think the polygamy creates a new problem, which is that men are going to be more devided into alpha and beta. The alphas getting multiple women, so there’s no women left for the betas. That puts pressure on men too. Like either they become successful or a failure. So it’s not even fair for men, either, he’s essentially putting the other men in a more difficult situation (if polygamy became standard) I just really hope I’m wrong and these women really are happy in their marriage. It would be so sad if they had to live their life not expressing their real feelings to their husband :( And I also hope that these kids are just raised with love and maybe they learn different perspectives but that it doesn’t affect them negatively.

Very depressing, it’s obvious that these men do not have the finances to properly take care of their wives. When I think of a man with 2+ wives I usually assume him to be a well off man with enough time on his hands to take care of and assist multiple wives and children. This kind of arrangement is a lot of work for everyone involved and I don’t think the average Muslim joe living in a small flat with a small salary is even close to capable of this. From what I’ve heard from Muslims and what I’ve read myself the man at least has to ATLEAST be financially stable….
