The razor is made by Yates Precicision Manufacturing which is a husband and wife team Just outside of Pittsburgh. I have 5 shaves in with mine and it is an extremely smooth yet efficient razor. Great price too for 316 SS made in USA. Great video Ken

I had to shave my mustache. My sweet bride and I just celebrated our 50th anniversary on Saturday and since she didn’t like the stash I shaved it off as an anniversary present to her. But, I had prostate surgery last month. No cancer, just BPH that I was tired of dealing with. I texted my photo with the stash to all my friends and reminded them about getting checked. The America razor is tempting, but I love my Rockwell too much. I love those ‘65 Mustangs. Mom had a dark blue with a 289 and three on the floor. She had foot surgery and swapped cars with me for two months since my ‘57 Chevy had a powerglide. That was two very fun months. Nice shave today, stay safe my friend.

I wanted to personally thank you for uploading these videos. I recently switched form a cartridge razor to a DE setup. I went with a Van Der Hagen kit from wal-mart. I noticed the factory blades that came with the kit were really "pulling" on my face when i shaved. I ordered a sample kit from amazon with some Astra superior platinum, Feather, Gillette platinum, Kai stainless, Personna platinums and wilkinson swords. I tried our the Astra's earlier tonight and WOW they were SOO much better then the Van der hagens. I can't wait to try the others.

I have a similar scuttle with a picture of a horse on it which I got at a Salvation Army store. I use it every day, but I have to admit until watching shave videos I didn't realize I should fill the bottom with hot water to soak my brush.

Pretty cool razor, I too have had many adventures in my 65 Mustang. We have talked about before, but I have owned mine since I was 17, 34 years. My family owned a water utility business and with a 4 speed on the floor I would read water meters it. I my dad sold the company over 20 years ago, but I still own the car. My daughter is graduating from high school this year. I told her I would give it to her when she graduates from college or technical school.

Hi, Ken! I know I’m late to the party on this video, but this razor was made in the town I live in! Not Philadelphia, but South of Pittsburgh area in a small town called Waynesburg. This is my first comment on your videos, even though I’ve seen almost every one of them. I got into DE shaving because of my acne… have been considering making videos reviewing DE razors for acne, but nervous to do so. It has the same head design as the Fine Marvel. It's a great razor and takes down my heavy stubble with no problem. The head design gives the blade a "bigger bite" and is more aggressive than a Tech style razor.

A very unusual razor and shape and finish. But a particularly unusual concept is the magnet in the handle. I've only seen this in Eclipse razors. By the way, I also usually test razors on blades that I know and are sure of. Thank you, Ken!

So… 8 months later. I went to the wetshavingclub’s website and checked out the product description. It’s described as having a “mild to medium shave” with a blade gap of 0.016” I wouldn’t imagine they’ve changed anything since November but it’s interesting you’ve experienced such a seemingly aggressive shave.

Good shave Ken!!! I do like that razor! Matte finish and Old Glory at the top? Love it! I did a Rex Ambassador shave with a Personna Red, with some Barrister and Mann East Egg Soap and Aftershave. Great shave. At a price of $90, it’s a little bit cheaper than other high end razors like the Karve, Blackland and Timeless razors that wet shavers spend hundreds of dollars on. I might be sold on it for its price and performance. I’m halfway through No Shave November, and may these last 15 days of that month pass by swiftly till I get back to wet shaving

Question I’ve been wet shaving for almost a year now. The only shave soap I have used thus far has been Van Der Hagen which I like; its good match with my skin. I would like to have another choice to change it up. My skin is a little sensitive but not bad ( since I’ve started wet shaving, my face has done great). What would be your recommendation ?

Nice video. This razor seems very good. I only have a Muhle R89 which is a mild razor. Would like to get another razor some day that is more aggressive like this one. A bit scared but not too much since it's not like a shavette/straight razor. I just have some spots and 1-2 moles which can be cut open so gotta be a bit careful. With the R89 I can be very care-free but it can still cut those bumps open. I enjoy your chatter about life and various subjects. Like the "getting old/old man" thing lol.

Thank you for a superb demonstration. At 12:30, you say the razor is close to the R41 (presumably Muhle), which is aggressive ('scares you', as you aptly put it). From the Wet Shaving Club, I understand the Merica's blade gap is 0.016" (0.406mm) and exposure is neutral. This makes it, nominally at least, nicely mild. I do not, however, know what the corresponding figures for the R41 are but, if regarded as 'scary', then the gap or exposure should be larger. Although abstract figures may not translate directly into the subjective perception of 'mild' or 'aggressive', I wonder if you can square this circle for me please. On the basis of parameters, the Merica is very appealing to me; any degree of 'aggressiveness', as might be of the R41, is certainly not. Sorry to trouble you but I value your opinion.

I bought one and I measure the blade gap as .030" so I think the .016" spec on the Wet Shaving Club is inaccurate. It's definitely more aggressive than mild razors like a 34C

I would use a Feather. I’ve used one in a R41 which is more aggressive than this one in my opinion
