Said it before, and will say it again, you folks at the Royal Armouries museum have some phenomenal curators and staff working to preserve and share these bits of history and culture. Bravo, gentlemen!

It strikes me that this is the late medieval equivalent of having a golden AK in terms of showing wealth and status.

Perhaps a _bit_ less gaudy, while being far pricier.

Guns like these are as much works of art as they are historical weapons-each detail tells a story, and the mythical engravings bring so much character to it.

Absolutely outrageous artwork! 17th century "conspicuous consumption", I suppose.

Another great video Nick. How about an in depth look at the "Iraqi supergun". I was fascinated by it recently during a visit to your wonderful museum?

@@causewaykayakIt was pretty clever of him to mention the gun was Flemish, the town is part of the Flemish community, yet he used the Franco name 😅 The sign of a good instructor, he motivates you to look stuff up.

Good point. with a collection of antique and renaissance guns make something that looks like a medieval fortress or a stately country house, not like something my Uncle Jake has in his tool shed.
