About This Series:
My plan is to summarize the entire message of the Quran, in 30 lessons.
As those of you who listen to my lectures are aware, my style is typically to go into quite a lot of detail. Most of my lectures would be classified as intermediate or advanced. However, this series will be very different.
I want to present the message of the Quran to those who have never really read the Quran before. The goal would be that after listening to this 45-minute lecture, they should then read the entire juz (para) themselves.
I want people to follow along with me, day by day, and recite that juz, and then read a translation of it, so that we complete the whole Quran this month. The goal of my lecture is to help them appreciate and contextualize what they are going to read. This is NOT a detailed, word by word, verse by verse, tafsīr. I've done that for quite a few Surahs, and if we ever did that for the entire Quran it would be over a thousand lectures at least!
Rather, this is an analytical summary - it is 'basic' in that I'm not going to go into academic details, but to prepare this 'basic' summary will require quite a lot of work (as those who know, know!).
Hafiz Sajjād joins me to recite a section of that juz (around ten minutes) so that we do get a taste of the beauty of the original as well.
I hope that this series will be of benefit, and that it will increase our love for this Divine Book! I ask Allah to bless me with sincerity and to guide me to what is best!

Jazakallahu Al Firdaus Al Aa'la Sheikh. The incident mentioned in 32:35, details in Tafseer AtTabari, how the hypocrites compared the contribution of dates by the poor Sahabi (RA) to the contribution of gold by Abdur Rahman Ibn Awf (RA) and their mockery. It's still one of those of Ayahs that make me cry bitterly, wondering how hurt the poor Sahabi must've felt. May Allah not make us of the people who hurt others by the tongue and hands. Aameen

Contents of Surah At-Tawbah - Importance of Sincerity: In Ayahs 91-92, Allah tells us how important it is to genuinely desire to do something good even if you are not able to do it. لَـيۡسَ عَلَى الضُّعَفَآءِ وَلَا عَلَى الۡمَرۡضٰى وَلَا عَلَى الَّذِيۡنَ لَا يَجِدُوۡنَ مَا يُنۡفِقُوۡنَ حَرَجٌ اِذَا نَصَحُوۡا لِلّٰهِ وَ رَسُوۡلِهٖ​ؕ مَا عَلَى الۡمُحۡسِنِيۡنَ مِنۡ سَبِيۡلٍ​ؕ وَاللّٰهُ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌۙ‏ وَّلَا عَلَى الَّذِيۡنَ اِذَا مَاۤ اَتَوۡكَ لِتَحۡمِلَهُمۡ قُلۡتَ لَاۤ اَجِدُ مَاۤ اَحۡمِلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ تَوَلَّوْا وَّاَعۡيُنُهُمۡ تَفِيۡضُ مِنَ الدَّمۡعِ حَزَنًا اَلَّا يَجِدُوۡا مَا يُنۡفِقُوۡنَؕ‏ [9:91] There is no blame on the weak nor on the sick nor on those who have nothing to enable them to join (the struggle in the Way of Allah) if they stay behind provided that they are sincere to Allah and to His Messenger. There is no cause for reproach against those who do good. Allah is All-Forgiving, Ever Merciful. [9:92] Nor can there be any cause for reproach against those who, when they came to you asking for mounts to go to the battlefront, and when you said that you had no mounts for them, they went back, their eyes overflowing with tears, grieving that they had no resources to enable them to take part in fighting. The Prophet(SAW) said, “Those people, they will have the reward of all that we have done even though they stayed in their houses.” This shows that we should aim the highest. We should not be satisfied with just passing the exam, we should strive to top the exam. Make a positive goal and then strive for it. Perhaps Allah will get you to that goal. Or perhaps you don’t get all the way to that goal but you will go to higher place than you would have if you hadn’t had that goal. Or perhaps you will get a fraction of the reward of that goal even if you don’t get to the goal because of your sincerity. Contents of Surah At-Tawbah - Masjid Adh-Dhirar & Categories for Zakah: There was a man called Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul who was the chief hypocrite in Madinah. This man was jealous of the authority of the Prophet(SAW) and he wanted to be the leader of Madinah. He and his comrades decided to build a Masjid away from the Masjid of the Prophet(SAW). The goal was to turn people away from the Prophet(SAW) and people would come to him. He did not explicitly say this but it was obvious that he wanted to divide the Muslim society. He invited the Prophet(SAW) to come and visit the Masjid like a grand opening. The Prophet(SAW) did not know what to say. Allah revealed about this Masjid in Ayah 107-110, calling it “Masjid of Harm”. وَالَّذِيۡنَ اتَّخَذُوۡا مَسۡجِدًا ضِرَارًا وَّكُفۡرًا وَّتَفۡرِيۡقًۢا بَيۡنَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ [9:107] Then there are others who have set up a mosque to hurt the True Faith, to promote unbelief, and cause division among believers, لَا تَقُمۡ فِيۡهِ اَبَدًا ​ؕ لَمَسۡجِدٌ اُسِّسَ عَلَى التَّقۡوٰى مِنۡ اَوَّلِ يَوۡمٍ اَحَقُّ اَنۡ تَقُوۡمَ فِيۡهِ​ؕ [9:108] Never stand therein. Surely a mosque founded from the first day on piety is more worthy that you should stand in it for Prayer. The Masjid that is praised here is Masjid Quba which was closeby to the Masjid that the Hypocrites built. This incident tells us that that sometimes there are evil people who can use the religion for an evil political agenda. Just because someone calls it religious, doesn’t necessarily mean it is a good thing. Something outwardly good can be evil inwardly. We don’t know what is inside a person’s heart, only Allah knows. So Allah exposed the plan of the Hypocrites. Allah uses the word كُفۡرًا (Disbelief) for that Masjid in that context since only Allah can know. Ayah 60 is the one place in the whole Qur’an were all categories of Zakah are mentioned. There are 8 categories. The books of Fiqh discuss the details about these but the Qur’an lays down the foundation. اِنَّمَا الصَّدَقٰتُ لِلۡفُقَرَآءِ وَالۡمَسٰكِيۡنِ وَالۡعٰمِلِيۡنَ عَلَيۡهَا وَالۡمُؤَلَّـفَةِ قُلُوۡبُهُمۡ وَفِى الرِّقَابِ وَالۡغٰرِمِيۡنَ وَفِىۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ وَابۡنِ السَّبِيۡلِ [9:60] The alms are meant only for the poor and the needy and those who are in charge thereof, those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and to free those in bondage, and to help those burdened with debt, and for expenditure in the Way of Allah and for the wayfarer. Contents of Surah At-Tawbah - Islamic Calender & Most Optimisitic Ayah in the Qur’an: اِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُوۡرِ عِنۡدَ اللّٰهِ اثۡنَا عَشَرَ شَهۡرًا [9: 36] Surely the reckoning of months, in the sight of Allah, is twelve months This shows that Muslims have a different calender. Allah takes care of all aspects of Islamic Civilisations. As for the year the calendar starts from, this was decided by Umar ibn Khattab. But the concept of the calendar and 12 months is something that Allah revealed. There is an Ayah in Surah At-Tawbah that some of the scholars nominate as the most optimistic Ayah in the Qur’an. وَاٰخَرُوۡنَ اعۡتَرَفُوۡا بِذُنُوۡبِهِمۡ خَلَطُوۡا عَمَلًا صَالِحًـا وَّاٰخَرَ سَيِّئًا ؕ عَسَى اللّٰهُ اَنۡ يَّتُوۡبَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ​ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ [9:102] There are others who have confessed their faults. They intermixed their good deeds with evil. It is likely that Allah will turn to them in mercy, for Allah is All- Forgiving, Ever Merciful. It is said that one of the scholars of the Tabiun would begin to cry whenever he would read this Ayah. He said, “This Ayah is the most optimistic Ayah for me because I am this servant that i have mixed together good deeds and bad deeds. And whenever Allah says - Perhaps Allah will forgive - this means Allah shall forgive so I am optimistic that Allah will forgive me.” Contents of Surah At-Tawbah - Command to have a scholar group within each Community: وَمَا كَانَ الۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ لِيَنۡفِرُوۡا كَآفَّةً​ ؕ فَلَوۡلَا نَفَرَ مِنۡ كُلِّ فِرۡقَةٍ مِّنۡهُمۡ طَآئِفَةٌ لِّيَـتَفَقَّهُوۡا فِى الدِّيۡنِ [9:122] It was not necessary for the believers to go forth all together (to receive religious instruction), but why did not a party of them go forth that they may grow in religious understanding, Just like we have doctors, engineers, teachers, and so on in every society, we should have qualified scholars in every society. This is not the case because most of us do not think of sending one of our own into Islamic Studies and Scholar study. Islamic scholarship is the backbone of a thriving Muslim community. We need an Islamic scholarship that is relevant, up-to-date, and engaging. The Qur’an says that we need to think about this collectively. This ends Section-3. One of the main themes of the Qur'an is stand and speak for justice. Allah (sbt) commands us to speak against the zallim, and for the mazlum. My father is a sociopath (zallim, kazaab, and munafiq) who has devastated my life to the point where I have serious health problems, limited capital, and no way to make a living. I am still un-married at 32. And, now, may never be able to get married. Those of you who were blessed with kind parents who facilitated you into careers, and families fo your own, including Yasir Qadhi need to step outside of what you know. And, understand the dynamics of a Sociopath and Narccistic family, of Firon and his Malaik . It would have been better for me to be born an orphan, then to be born in the house of Pharoah. I am calling on the Mominin to stand with me for justice. I am asking Yasir Qadi to actually act on the Qur'an, and use his voice to get me justice. Help me to get justice through the American legal system, or the Global Muslim Community. I am building a whole channel of content in which I make both small, and comprehensive videos about the things my father, and my paternal family has done to my mother before me, and to me. And, the impact that has had on my life circumstances, my health, and the course of my life going forward. I call all of the Faithful to stand with me. I am not begging. This is my right to demand. May Allah (sbt) give towfique to Yasir Qadi to actually use his platform to help a descendent of Saiyidna Muhammad (sws) against whom injustice has been committed. For anyone who wants to know the ayat read in the intro of video, Surah name is Surah Sad and verse 29. Translation of the verse. [This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.
