Just wanted to say this video, the whole series (and from what I can tell this whole channel) are absolutely fantastic. This used such thoughtful examples from a really diverse palette of music and media. You presented this all really clearly and captured the nuance and complexity of the topic very well. I mirror the sentiment of others that these videos ought to have many more views, but I'm glad I came across them. Also: if you aren't already familiar, you might find the video game "The Witness" pretty relevant to this topic. It is a puzzle-solving game, and some levels have the music and other audio cues themselves serve as the answers to the puzzles. Synecdoche, New York (Charlie Kaufman film) also has some really interesting interplay between diagetic and non-diagetic music that fit in with a lot of examples you provided. Again, really excellent video essay! Hope to see more in the future!
