Seems you really don't know how to properly setup Air Link to begin with imho. My Q3/rtx4090 works very well with Air Link. Also works very well with Virtual Desktop. Once you properly setup each wireless system there's not a lot in it between them. I prefer Air Link but this is just a personal preference thing.

I normally use link cable with Q2 and now Q3. Tried AirLink again over the weekend and not sure whether it is a placebo affect but I think the clarity is much better than cable which surprised me, especially distant objects in ACC, AMS2 etc. Going to do some tests this eve but also on 4090 but only testing with a basic Wi-Fi 6 router atm so the occasional stutter.

thanks for the honesty. With how bad this headset is and how little you hear from some content creators about it, it makes you wonder....I really did used to trust some of these guys.

A good rule of thumb is to *never* blindly trust any medium to larger subscriber count channels to provide honest reviews (especially when it comes to tech and games). I go out of my way to seek out a number of smaller channels for reviews, and even then that doesn't mean you'll always get an honest review either. Companies know that spreading around cash and perks for reviews is to their benefit. Us consumers really have to do our due diligence these days. Never pre-order anything or bank on early "reviews". You should do another video with virtual desktop. It works so great for me. I have a wifi 6e router and I set it to h.264+ 400 bitrate, godlike resolution (90hz/120hz) and it looks really good. It runs way better and looks better than airlink too.

If you know how to properly setup both Air Link and Virtual Desktop both work very well with both my Q3 and QPro/rtx4090. Really comes down to personal preference imho.

I have optimized my 5Ghz band on my router and dedicated it to PCVR. Both Air Link and VD work very well but VD still has a tiny delay in hand movement over Air Link for me so I can't get on board with VD. If you take stock Air Link settings without using the Debug Tool then VD will likely be better for you but Air Link is superior.

@@Scorpslay On quest 2 I would agree with you but not quest3 from my experirence. Even on 6ghz I get massive stutters on only 200 bitrate. I lower it to 170 and still massive stutters. VD it runs flawless on even 400 bitrate. For reference q2 I ran at 200 biitrate no issues on 5ghz. I'll prob stick with VD. Getting other issues such as not showing. up.on airline or wired link while vd it is say morre.stable

@@chan13153 you need to raise Air Link above 200 Mbps using the Debug Tool with Q3 because 200 causes stuttering. Once I hit 400 it was almost gone but 500 and it's all gone with my resolution maxed at 1.5x

Is your PC wired directly to your router? I don’t have these issues with Airlink. I would say that I DID have similar issues, but once I wired my PC to the router the pixelating/blurring went away.

G2 was my first headset and I will always have a special place in my heart for it. But MS has abandoned WMR, replacement cables are nearly impossible to get and the overhead that running WMR and SteamVR in tandem is palpable. I won't mention the controller tracking because in general to me it's not a huge deal. It's unfortunate though because the g2 does so much right, the audio is some of the best you can get on a headset, the screens are tack-sharp and it's really comfortable, as well as pretty light overall.@@xressentials

Why not also test it with virtual desktop? It works a lot better and would make a fairer comparison (with the pico 4 in particular). I do agree though that air link needs work.

So you bash airlink without telling us what your airlink settings are? Show us your debug tool and oculus app settings. Try openxr games not openvr games and you will get better performance. You also need a WiFi 6e router for the quest 3 and ideally a 4090. If you have these then you have the best vr experience possible. Pimax crystal sucks with battery changes, the other headsets are fresnel lenses. You should not suggest fresnel headsets. Reverb g2 has been discontinued lmao.

The problem is that also the nvidia settings must be tweaked to have the maximum optimization, I thought my 2060 was having issues but I saw that something had mess my settings and for almost 2 years I couldn't play as intended now that I tweaked them it's like I m expiriencing vr all over again

@@xressentials it depends also what hardware you are using you have a 4090 or 80 right? So for you actually I believe even the preset higher quality should be ok I can talk only for 2060 laptop atm. Do you have a discord server so I can share them for all the community? I remember that the two options that truly helped was power management mode texture filtering(quality) both on prefare maximum performance and high performance

By the way the visual “noise” things you are seeing is from something called asw or asynchronous space warp. You should have turned that off. I play with that off and the bitrate at 850 mbps on h264 codec. Try looking at that. This is being unfair to airlink.

I agree. I only use 500 Mbps with Air Link and it is buttery smooth. VD has a slight delay in hand movement on the same wireless setup so I cannot recommend it over Air Link.

For me virtual desktop does not work with the Oculus VR game I have a 1080ti seems an incompatibility with the driver hope they will fix that sooner I have reinstalled my PC twice before to notice that.

Are you launching it from the Virtual Desktop menu? It may not work in VR mode if you launch from the Oculus App.
