passthrough is a gamechanger! especially for workouts/yoga/boxing games. Thrill of the fight added passthrough mode so now you can see your opponent in your room and you dont risk running into or punching a wall. I cant wait for quest 3. The colored passthrough will be amazing with these fighting games.

"no one wants passthrough" is a phrase said by people with no vision of possibility. tapping, affordably, into the business market, especially with remote workers and new production capabilities, as well as new gaming opportunities (like defending your own house from zombies) and other passthrough bonuses.. is a huge win for the company that delivers this. Henry Ford had a relevant quote, "If I asked people what they wanted, they'd tell me they want a faster horse".. you figure out what's needed and you make that. passthrough is a huge boon that, if delivered well, will be very popular.

Normally its not that - what they mean is its not a main features people are wanting. Aka, there are other areas where they could improve on for the cost of having passthrough. For example, the SoC can only support up to 6 cameras (kind of), that means you have a limited recourse on where and how you use the cameras. Considering color takes more data - and the other cameras are used for tracking.. it doesnt give you a lot of space for other things such as eye tracking for example. Personally, I think its more gimmick but each to their own.

A lot of these questions depend on how you use VR, what you already own, and what new enticing titles may come out as Q3 AR exclusives. In my case I have a gaming PC and a Q2 and I only use the Q2 in standalone mode for fitness and rhythm games which run perfectly well and don't take up much storage space. You also have to consider the extra expense of aftermarket head straps and battery expansions like the BOBO gear which I have, as these headsets greatly benefit from those extras. That will mean the total cost of an upgraded Q3 will get pricey. In my case I'm likely to wait until price drops or sales occur before picking one up. However if you don't yet have a VR headset the Q3 will be a worthwhile investment. It's a versatile, impressive package for the money. I expect it will be long lived and probably become the most popular and successful VR headset that we've seen since the Q2.

After my first VR being the 64GB, it's the 512GB for me... As long as it's no more than £100 extra! 64GB was perfectly adequate but I did kind of wish I could store the odd 3D movie or 4k 180° video for them niche scenarios; when offline or to quickly show friends/family.

Quest 3 512 GB will be a whopping £650 but since meta scrapped the 64gb models, 128gb (base model) might be enough as it costs £500. Hope this helps👍

I have been wanting and asking for color pass through for a long time. I only ever use pass through home so having good color pass through sounds awesome. Plus there are tons of games that can benefit from it like Beat Saber, Demeo, or Real VR Fishing. Mixed reality is going to be amazing, especially when you can scan your room and invite people from all over the world to a virtual version of your IRL home to watch movies or play flat-screen games. Although I have never played Pokémon, imagine it in real AR rather than through a phone. Shop for clothes by looking in a real mirror and seeing virtual representations of the clothes on your real body. Possibilities are endless.

Absolutely interested in the larger one, over time, I have regretted getting the smaller Quest 2 storage, especially with the advent of Meta +. Accessories? The BoBo VR M3 Pro with the hot-swapping batteries, confirmed for Quest 3, will likely be a hands down winner for me on the headstrap.

its a tough call, when the Q3 was first announced, with full colour pass through, that sounded mightily exciting, but now there's mention of a Q3 lite, it leaves me wondering, do I really need pass through? or would I be happy just being completely immersed? but then there's a whole extra year wait, and I just feel like Sirius Black, "I did my waiting!" so there's a good chance I'll wind up buying the more expensive memory filled Q3 coming up, after all, I've been stashing money aside since it's anouncement.

Well AR is different than VR, but VR can allow more artistry with AR. AR can be used with gaming combat systems, but really can only be utilized when you're running around outside around an object. So really it's not needed by every software out there. I'd say it's an optional add-on that should be worth the price IF you can utilize the AR properly

If you have a PC, there's no reason for most to need the extra storage. I'm a VR evangelist and will be taking my Quest 3 to a ton of get together's so I'll be getting the 500gb, but for most I don't see the point.

im getting the quest 3, specifically because of the slimmer design, it will have a better weight distribution so that I dont feel like I have a brick constantly pulling my face forward. It would greatly enhance my vr experience, especially with the pancake lenses making everything look nicer. I am also excited about the quest 3 depth sensor and controllers. the depth sensor has potential to increase controller tracking even better than the quest 2, and not having the rings in the way when using vr will make interactions so much less immersion breaking. I have pre-ordered the quest 3 512 gigabyte. im still keeping my quest 2 64 gb for guests and a backup device. (and selling it would only be worth like $100 anyways if that)

I have heard that Meta quest 3 will get 2 LCD panels. A German website form another KZbinr showed that the panel size is 2.4 inches. The meta quest 2 panel size is 5.2 inches. We all know that 2.4 inches is to tiny for a display. So I believe it will be 2 2.4 inches LCD displays on each pancake lense

I mainly use my Quest2 for fitness and my Pico4 for PCVR gaming. So, I'm not really sure what size memory I'll be getting with the Quest3. I have the 64 gb version Quest 2 and still have some space. If the Quest 3 however has the possibilty to play my own music or audio in the background while I'm doing fitness, I might consider the 512gb one. I don't think I will buy the cheaper version. As long as my Pico4 performes, no need for that.

2:12 in consumer VR circles yes but in total AR is a daily part of life for millions of people namely Pilots, high trim car drivers and some in the US army... Like AR is very usefully and by far the quest 3 is the best value Mixed reaitly Headset out there as AR glass to day are similar in price but only mirror your display... Man i literally buy the meta Quest 2 two months ago, but if i want to buy some thing from the Quest 3, it Will be the controllers, or de Quest pro controllers. I just wanted a Quest 2, and now i have it, and i am not sad, what is cool about it, i would be sad when the Quest 2 servers get down. Idk if it can happend beacouse i am new at This virtual area😂👍

i hope for the Quest3: # use the AV1 codec when streaming from PC - should give much better quality and less artifacts - the XR2gen2 is capable of AV1 # hopefully faster decoding-speed, so latency when streaming from PC is reduced - in the moment the decoding of the Quest2 is more of a bottlenec than the Wifi itself # better displays than on Quest2 in regards of color representation # hopefully better binocular overlap than the Quest Pro - best headset in that field is the PIco4, better than any other headset on the market right now - a doubt the Quest3 will match this kind of overlap

gonna stick with the quest 2 because i dont realy like the new controlers and i am not really interested in full collor passtrough as i mainly user it as a pcvr headset (Beatsaber, Vr Chat, ...)

VR is cheap not expensive. People spend what $600 or more for the latest iphone or Samsung? this is far more advanced tech for under 500! Should be 5 grand, literally, I don't know what this generation expects, when I visited a VR kiosk in the 90's at Trocadéro, it was $100,000+ , the size of a large bureau and was doing only basic shapes, boxes etc, now we have dirt cheap unbelievable stuff that we used to fantasize about back then, and people call it "expensive"😂 Honestly when I hear that, it only makes me more excited about the future because it's a sign that this is so mainstream that it's taken for granted now!

I highly doubt 120hz is going to running on all apps and games just like all the Quest devices before it always falls short. The Quest 3 still cannot compete with a hardwired PCVR headset hooked up to a 3080ti+ like the Reverb G2 or Index. Hardwired will always take the win and something most of the VR community do not understand but I get Facebook is trying to get it to the masses. I use my Quest 2 for working out only as its hard for me to play games on it when spoiled by the Reverb G2 and a 3080ti.

No sorry, price isnt the only thing - it really comes down to function. If your function is a media player - GO would've went higher in sells - but it didnt. IT cap out and didnt perform all that well. Main reason? No way to play games or use it for more. Unless the light comes down controllers it wont still work out all that well. Granted, I understand it might come with hand tracking, but even today, hand tracking is VERY limited and normally use as a bare basic UI method more than anything with limited controls on how to use it.

The Quest Pro was, IMO, targeted at Apple users, just for the price alone (if anything). And as for Apple, well they released their own "Quest Pro", at an even more Appleish price tag, so no point in producing more. Sometimes I wonder if the wole Quest "Pro" thingy was just a trick in order to get Apple release a stupidly expensive headset for the "elite" fanbase.

No, VR cost gets crazy high once you break out of "Whats out there" technology. Granted, I dont think it worth the price they were asking for, but it does get that costly the higher you go up. Mainly comes down to display cost as you have to get 2 panels that could easily cost you 500$ a pop.
