I love BODE clothing and the story of Emily's history in creating fashion. I really love her old wool sweaters featured in this video. Thank you for this inspiring story.

Barbara, I'm glad to hear you enjoy Bode as much as I do. Emily's story and clothes are really charming - for men and women! I hope I can pass down clothes to my kids like her Mom / Grandma did with her. Have a nice weekend!

The genius of Bode is marketing.
@Indigololz3 жыл бұрын
Do you feel the brand's marketing is disconnected from the actual product being offered? Interested to hear your perspective.
@ghostpipe8883 жыл бұрын
@@Indigololz No, I don't feel it is disconnected. I do think that the concept surrounding this product/ label has been out there a long time in the world of eco fashion and design, as you mentioned in the video. I am a long time fan of this kind of clothing design/life style that manifests through the DIY/thrift scene. I look at other designers who have been producing products with similar concepts/ designs using the same materials and although I am sure some products actually do sell themselves out in the world, I am more interested in what it takes to sell an idea and concept. I personally adore the clothing because it is right up my alley and plays in to my own personal aesthetic, but what makes the brand Bode genius? I think it is marketing strategy, probably $/connections, and not necessarily the product its self because what is it that really sets this brand apart from any other brand doing practically the exact same thing. Bode didn't invent the wheel here, they are just putting their stamp on it and that to me is what is interesting.

Fair points - thanks for sharing. What are some other brands that you enjoy? Any secrets to finding good vintage / secondhand clothing?

@@Indigololz psychic outlaw, selina sanders, 3 women and co... to name a few. Also, I want to say the Seminole Nation and other Indigenous nations when it comes to quilted clothing. Jamie Okuma. And the DIY-er clothing constructer hippies of the 70's lol. Enjoying the channel, thumbs up!

Bode means "shop" in my native language
@Indigololz3 жыл бұрын
What language is that? Here it means a sign of something (but it's also become a popular name for kids and pets 😂)
@dace88283 жыл бұрын
@@Indigololz it's latvian. "Bode" is considered an oldfashioned word and is not used as an official term anymore. And we pronounce it slightly differently, but spelling is identical 🙂
@Indigololz3 жыл бұрын
Oh interesting! In English it's pronounced "Bohd" (a sign of something that's going to happen, usually bad), but the name people are giving their kids/pets is like the brand "B-oh-dee". I definitely was saying the brand name wrong (like Bohd) for a couple years until a store corrected me 😂😭

There's a certain level of privilege required to start any fashion business. I don't see that as a reason to discredit a designer's success.

I've been excited to see brands like Bode and 18 East market their clothes as "Made in India" with pride. I think India will become increasingly important in modern fashion and culture! Thanks for watching :)
