Agreed!! I’m a drummer and prefer to play along to the rhythm guitarist and have the bass player fill the gaps we leave or just stab along 🤙
@matthewmead23743 жыл бұрын
@@ashhodson2063 I think it creates a really tight sound and works great with funk music. Usually the bass anchors the drums to the rest of the band by syncing up with the bass drum but when the rhythm guitar and drums sync up you get that awesome start-stop deep funk sound. The band phish incorporates a lot of meters inspired funk and the guitarist and drummer have great chemistry and get really locked in. They have even mentioned this in interviews. Whatever you feel about the greater catalog of music the band plays any funk fan would be remiss not to check out some of the bands funky offerings as they pull it off really well, and it's the drums and guitar and the chemistry between them that moves this sound along.

@@thezootopiahusky I'm going to tell you something that's going to BLOW YOUR MIND. It's a concept known as relativity. If the richer are richer - which they undeniably are (www.theguardian.com/business/2019/jan/21/world-26-richest-people-own-as-much-as-poorest-50-per-cent-oxfam-report) then, by comparison, the poor are poorer. Whatshendrix is entirely correct. You, and many others, may be satisfied giving the best years of your lives working like a slave for minimum wage (or a car and computer, which you apparently consider symbols of success) for a person who makes more in a second than you will in a thousand lifetimes, but at least admit it! It's pretty undeniable, unfortunately.

Aerosmith was said to have been inspired to write some of their tracks from the music of The Meters. Particularly, this album in 1974 gave some inspiration for their 1975 album (Toys in the attic) specifically their song "Walk this way". And I can totally hear it. Got that uptown funk dipped in all night long blues. Classic tones. I love this stuff.

Yeah joe Perry was listening to the meters while writing the music of walk this way and it was Jeff beck who turned him on to them .

Its so funny that u listen to songs nowadays and you think that a beat was amazing, then u find out its a sample of old beats from the great days of music like this one. just learned that the song by aalyah "are you that somebody" was a sample of this song. all this time I didn't know that. now i am currently searching for newer songs that wasn't sampled and i can't find any. people are just lazy and don't create anymore.
