A true American treasure! Thanks Bruce! One of only a very few men I ever wanted to meet.

I was born 1959, these buggies even the rail jobs were the envy of every teenager I knew. The attitude was " never merge with NORMAL" I still maintain that posture.

Pretty cool to see this after all these years. My dad and Bruce were good friends and I spent a lot of time at his shop as a kid. That's me with my my mom and dad in the root-beer colored car with the big whip at Pismo (Oceana), around my 6th birthday.

Beautiful build. I had 2 of the Manx Meyers dune buggies color green metal flake same small fiberglass seats,I had dual electric wipers in 1970s. The 1st one was bought completed, I drove it all over San Jose Ca on the street and in the muddy hils when it was raining. The 2nd one I built a 1600 dual port VW engine with one holley 2-bbl. carb. I had a professional due the frame. Unfortunately the only thing I had left to do was mounting the body and windshield, then a friend came in with a new Harley sportster and I traded him. This video brings back great memorys. Thanks

I Remember the BUG IN at Orange County Raceway, Had a yellow Meyers Tow'd that i traded a '53 chevy tin woodie for. Loved the Tow'd amazing vehicle & we traveled everywhere in it , called it the Lunar Rover, Mine was street Legal. As far as i know it is still sitting in a backyard in Whittier California where it was parked 50 years ago.

I had a friend back in the 80's that had one of these in Key West. I didn't think much of it until my truck broke down and i borrowed his Manx. I loved it and later had the chance to buy it for $1K. Wish I had...

super happy to come across this story. im currently restoring a manx which used to run in that big bear club. doing a full off pan restore and having a ton of fun with it. when i first got the car, i thought it was just some kit car built by a kid in a garage. it looks cool but i wasnt aware of how involved the history is. everything im doing hits different now that i learn the true story behind the car. RIP Mr Meyers.

I tried to make my own copy in 1970 by building a plaster cast in the back yard - but when I found a company in Sydney Australia had beaten me I bought one of their kits. Get fun. My best mate also bought one.

RIP Bruce I am 26 I met Bruce when I was 12 my father used to own a fiberglass dune buggy it was a clone unfortunately but it had a covair motor which would be rare today I also have his signature on a advertisement pamphlet when I went to a off-road convention with my father.

I've always thought the Meyers Manx was super cool. I would love to own one. But I'm also a Jeep fan and have owned 4 so far. To hear them say these things will go "where a Jeep can't go" is laughable. That place doesn't exist! These are still very cool.

I used to hve a bug that WOULD go anywhere a jeep would go. 19in of ground clearance. 17in of travel. 6point roll cage. 31in tires. wish I would have never sold it.

My father built one. I rode in it as a 3 year old. I never knew why he built it until now. He sold it after just a couple of years. I was sad watching it get towed off down the street by some stranger.

James says: "it would be good if the option of subtitles in Spanish was activated, not everyone understands English" James, should there be an option for Russian, Japanese, Mandarin, Croat, Italian, etc.? The story is about an American, made by American producers, on an American run site, on an American channel, in a media format dominated by English speakers, enough said.
