Any person who claims Dr. Heiser taught polytheism is illiterate or has an agenda. I respect your defense of Mike's teaching. You have always been one of my favorite presenters for your positive representation of Dr. Heiser's message.

It's baffling trying to understand why some people are so dead-set on misunderstanding Heiser. It's like their brains turn off the instant they hear a particular phrase or keyword -- or even when they _don't_ hear a particular phrase or keyword that's the lynchpin of their understanding of a topic or passage. Apparently some "scholars" are just like the average person: taught what (but not how) to think. They think they're protecting others from heresy, when really they're kicking against the go(a)ds.
@YerboiyАй бұрын
You notice how they waited until he passed before they started their criticisms? I think that speaks for itself. In my opinion these critics are being intentionally deceitful and I think they are shallow. Heiser never taught that gods came down and mated with women. He taught that angels came down and did that. He didn't classify angels separately from gods. He said that angels are called gods and also sons of God.
@brittybee6615Ай бұрын
@@Yerboiyreally, he didn’t get much of this criticism before he died? I only discovered him this year, so I just assumed it was ongoing before.
@yeshua-on-wingsАй бұрын
@brittybee6615 People disagreed with him before, but some people are really dogpiling him and completely misunderstanding/misrepresenting his views when he's no longer here to answer them directly (even though he already made his views pretty clear to anyone who genuinely wants to understand them). It just feels very slimy.

Dr. Heiser was just dealing with the common cipher "Elohim" and the way it is used in the scriptures. H is unequivocal about YHWH being a singular being.

The telltale sign of an ideologue is inaccuracy for convenience. Sifting through the arguments of "theologians" can be a disappointing waste of time. It can be like watching a jigsaw puzzle solver who works with scissors and glue.
@yeshua-on-wingsАй бұрын
"Inaccuracy for convenience" is a wonderful phrase that I hope to remember. Applicable so often, in so many contexts.
@truthbebold4009Ай бұрын
I've noticed that Heiser is guilty of that whenever he contrasts opposing views with his. He'll do his little jazz hands gesture and mockingly strawman a concept that he obviously hasn't examined very thoroughly.
@yeshua-on-wingsАй бұрын
@truthbebold4009 I've seen him do that with the UFO stuff, but not so much on serious scholarly topics. From what I've seen, he usually tried to give a fair shot to anyone with a reasonable argument.
@qazymanАй бұрын
Thank you. This is impressive on several levels. You've made a complex, reasonable, accurate, and compassionate argument. Well done.

Your point at 3:19:40 is killer-- It's definitely how this once-Catholic now-longtime-Protestant assesses Heiser's claim of revealing the Bible I claim as the basis of my faith.

1:30:30 - 1:31:41 I've just laugh-dead here; and at the same time his companion, "Major Objector" i mean, repeatedly says 'oh, Heiser needs hermeneutics classes, uh, definitely needs, oh'. Like, what are you even doin' here guys..
@Major_PippsАй бұрын
It really shows the bravery and confidence of these people to wait until the late Dr. Heiser passes to "Expose" him. Even if he did or didn't get a thing or couple things wrong... Everyone in the world knows he was an Amazing, Good, and Godly man that just wanted to help and teach people. And it's shameful and disrespectful of these people, who've barely done a fraction of God's work compared to Dr H, to choose a public setting for it. Just like the Pharisees... I guess they didn't think the biblical instruction of going to your brother in the faith in private means anything. So I rebuke them, workers of iniquity! And may God grant that they publicly reap the same harvest of division and strife that they sow. So be it, Amen.

Thank you again for reacting to these videos. Brother, I tried watching one of their videos and interacting with the Road Warrior. It is clear they are working from assumptions and presuppositions, and not the Biblical text. I am not a Hebrew or Greek scholar, but this is my take away after watching the first video.
@AllegiancetoYahwehАй бұрын
By the way, in regard to Genesis 1:26, every single episode in the Bible when God creates, it’s a singular creator, God. There is only one creator, God, and this never changes even if others are involved. This can be seen on word study as well.
@ryannelsonholtАй бұрын
These guys are incredibly disingenuous. I posted a clip of Heiser recently and got a number of negative comments. It’s sad so many refuse to ackowledge The Truth. Blessings on your efforts. 🙏
@FirstNameLastName-rs6qoАй бұрын
Heiser has repeatedly defended the Abrahamic God as a singular trinitarian type being. He uses the word "god" like many ancient scriptures do...defined as spiritual beings. Thus, little "g" gods and the big "G" God are spoken of. This much he made clear for decades.
@yeshua-on-wingsАй бұрын
You might consider editing your comment to remove the word "powerful" seeing as Heiser's main point of distinction is that elohim is not about attributes.
@FirstNameLastName-rs6qoАй бұрын
@yeshua-on-wings I edited it. I had ment powerful in a sense, like, in comparison to humans and how we see spirit beings.

2:13:00 very dumbfounded when people who are attacking Heiser because they think he denies mosaic authorship just said the authors of Genesis and Deuteronomy are different individuals.
@yeshua-on-wingsАй бұрын
3:47:36 "We're nearly done... (thank God)..." 😂 I'm actually sympathetic to these guys. Grew up southern baptist, with no real knowledge of the Holy Spirit (who, biblically, provides our assurance of salvation). My substitute for His ministry was a compulsion to ensure I had the "right" beliefs and to try my best to live accordingly. In that mindset, challenging my doctrine was synonymous with questioning my salvation. Theological debates will always interest me, but in that context they were not merely an honest search for truth and understanding -- they were (in effect) the test of whether I was right with God, and whether I'd go to heaven or hell. I see that same fearful compulsion to have the "right" theology in _a lot_ of would-be theologians (calvinists especially, which is why they're frequently the quickest to doubt others' salvation). Ironically, when you think your life literally depends on getting the answer 100% right, if cripples your ability to see things clearly. There's no freedom to question things honestly or openly when any misstep means potential damnation.

You have to listen to Howard Pittman's NDE experience. Howard was a southern Baptist preacher who died and was shown the divine council of Satan. His experience really reminded me of what Heiser pointed out in Psalm 82. You have to listen to his testimony, it will blow your mind about what it confirms about Heiser's research. Howard describes a divine council of the kingdom of darkness and how it operates in opposition to God.

When studying the great debate between the heretics in the church and the apostolic fathers that eventually formed the resulting branches of Christianity, you can see the constant error of attributing unintended meanings of words because of ambivalent language that is easily misunderstood across language and cultural barriers.. The Early Church developed nevertheless an orthodoxy that was able to survive by the convening of councils with open, face to face debates, prayer and reliance upon the Holy Spirit. These kinds of issues are very rarely resolved without fasting, prayer and love and agreeing to define the terms of language use. Heiser had an advantage of devoting most of his scholarship to interpreting semitic languages. That made him aware of the very carnal tendencies of mistranslation. Matthew 28:16-17; Acts 2:1

2:33:32 I just wanna give a very simple understanding of mine about why Paul take about hair covering was and is right: hair is an intensifier of woman scent spreading. End of story. Moreover that, women much more into artificial aroma stuff than men. More hair, therefore, means more chances of children being accidentally born. More science often means less sense. In Bible we just have completely eliminated sexual language without any important sense being lost, other example is in 1Cor 7:2-5, and who want it not being so.

Interesting - I have been looking for any rational counter argument to Heiser’s interpretation of the Bible but can find none. All critics do is scream the same thing « it’s polytheism » without understanding. No one is able to offer any other credible coherent explanation for all the ´weird bits’ in the Bible - which all hold together perfectly with Heiser’s standpoint. The test really is: does your explanation give the big picture and still bring everything together to glorify God and point to Jesus as the saviour of the world? In Heiser’s case = 100%! In fact many people’s faith (including mine) have been transformed with the deeper, wider understanding of who we really are in Christ as taught by Michael Heiser. Thank you for defending him
