Now I agree with this but if you watch friendship games after this you can see that this “midnight version” of herself is because of peer pressure yet looking closer you can see it’s because no one at twilight’s old school canterlot high (I think that’s the name I can’t remember it exactly) didn’t accept her, she was forced into that competition just to get into an independent study program and if they didn’t the principal would make sure she never got into that study program, her only “friend” was spike, and she got yelled at by sunset. So with that said I considered this part the “midnight version” but I also agree with you. Some times you need to go back and rewatch things and then you may have a better understanding as too why the composer did that. I also think that the composer also ment it in a literal way but if you go back and look at the reasoning I give I think he meant it in the way that night represents darkness and midnight is usually the darkest time of night so during that period before she met her friends and switched to her new school (can’t remember the name) she was probably (most likely in my opinion) in a bad place of mind or whatever you would like to say. I just want to say that I do not mean to target you in anyway I just wanted to point this out but I do agree with what you stated on some level

FUN FACT: In 3rd grade, my depression started. I didn't know what it was at the time, and I always referred to it as a person. A different version of me, that just wants to harm me. I have always been fond of art and drawing, so I usually drew things I thought about anywhere I could. I drew that person on my week plan at school, and I was questioned by the teachers. I told them the truth, and they recommended me a psychiatrist. I'm looking at that drawing now and I noticed something hidden inside the drawing I never noticed nor remember doing. It was a cry for help, it says "SomeBoDy mAke heR STOP". I am now terrified.

The song is really amazing but i don´t like how they did everything with Midnight Sparkle. They could have made her really overtake Twilight from time, but they just showed her in the dream and a short time when Twilight uses her magic. She had so much potencial and Hasbro trew it away. I'm so sorry for Twilight here in the movie, I want to hug her. She is afraid of herself she doesn't wasn't to be her true self as she says stay with light but she is scared to unleash the light that is already inside her she thinks the whole inside of her is tamed by Midnight Sparkle as HER POWER ALL THAT TAKES ME is what she says. She's looking for the light which is under her nose. Yes she turns into MS when she uses her magic but that's because she is afraid. Think of how if your happy you feel like you can do anything as when you're sad and scared u feel useless and like something will take you. If she believes in herself she will kick the darkness' butt. She spouts her midnight eyes horn and wings because she is afraid that her LIGHT will turn her into DARK. Sadly I have no evidence if my theory is true but reply what u think

I don't know if anybody is still here after almost 4 years, but in 2016, when Legend of Everfree came out, this song was my favourite from the movie. Now it's the time when I feel nostalgic for MLP:EG because I stopped watching it and MLP just after this movie. And now I realise how this song is important to me. In spring 2020 I became selfish and because of that I hurt my long distance boyfriend and I didn't realise it at all. But when I did, he said that he still loves me and I promised him I will change myself. So, I'm doing this right now and I think I'm changing myself better and better. And this is the moment when I found this song. I relate to Twilight a lot in this song because I'm afraid I will become selfish again so I will hurt my boyfriend or anybody I love. This is my "Midnight".

I think too that the song should be longer, but for that scene is perfect the time it has. Twilight was singing the things that she felt, but also she wanted to run and avoid that. If the song had been longer, it would be autoconclusive and at that time the movie couldn't have that at that point.

You know what I just noticed the purple part of Twilight's hair keeps going up and down like it's at the bottom of the pink stran from; Bottom in 0:00-0:10 than Top in 0:11-0:19, Bottom at 0:20-0:21, Top at 0:23-1:09, Bottom at 1:10-1:14, Top at 1:15-1:32 I think nobody noticed this but me, but if you did than you have better eyesight than the producers.
