Oddball British rock-star comedian Noel Fielding is equal parts Monty Python and Ziggy Stardust, with a flamboyant style to match. Today he joins Shad to discuss his current stand-up tour extravaganza, "An Evening with Noel Fielding". The new show is part stand-up, part sketch-comedy chaos.

q is a magazine show that’s unpredictable in the best sense - proud to be “a wild mix of culture by way of Canada” as described by the New York Times. The Globe & Mail noted the show’s “raging popularity across a variety of platforms -- podcasts, television, websites, satellite radio, terrestrial radio, and occasional live remote broadcasts."

This was a _fantastic_ interview... I can't think of any time Noel was this candid and just open and expressive. I love that he just followed his own train of thought without even a hint of an uncomfortable moment rambling (as some tend to do when they're given open ended questions). Props to the interviewer as well. Some American shows are just disgraceful with how little they've researched and don't even have a general idea about the person they're interviewing. This guy has clearly done his homework and it shows.

What a pleasant gent Noel Fielding is, and such kind eyes and sweet demeanor! Always enjoyed him on the BBC with Russell Brand and Matt Morgan. Ahhh, those good ol' days! If I were younger I'd be in love...lol And he cooks, and sings and paints-- and reads too! Awesome :)

The fact that the boosh came out when I was born is pretty crazy and my dad showed it to me when I was about 10 (probably a bit too young to watch it if I'm honest 😜) and now watch it all the time , sometimes I have a mighty marathon of boosh (well I call it that lmao)where I just watch it from season one to three. I know all the crimps etc I just love that show so much and I love Julian and Noel's relationship so much , they're such a great double act. Obviously Rich , Michael and Dave are all amazing aswell it's just the best cast, best characters, best atmosphere. I'm so devastated that I didn't see it live 😢

It's been about 10 years since this and Noel still talks about Julien and the Boosh this way, and we're still all crossing our fingers for the movie! 🤞 (I also remember checking out that book he was talking about on audio back when this came out. Never got through it, but dang, that brought back memories! 😆)

Great interview. Thanks so much for posting this. I'm glad they walked away from the machinery/money/juggernaut that they couldn't control. Even before this interview, it did seem like they walked away from having to lose control of what they'd created, at the height of their popularity. The Boosh, to me, just represents what creativity looks like. It's not this one thing. It's lots of exciting, creative energy morphing into many things. It's panto, it's visual art, it's a band, it's a sitcom, it's animation, it's design, it's poetry, it's a radio show, it's installations, it's festivals...I just want them to keep going...keep re-inventing themselves. It's so amazing and inspirational...watching them...and really funny.

i love the way he talks like hes processing everything as hes saying it and parsing through it all, you can SEE him visualizing it, its so visceral - its like hes bringing his mind to life before your eyes. hes so fascinating as a person, i love his thoughts and ideas. he truly is one of a kind. everything he does feels like such a special form of creation, an artist through and through. i love the journey he takes you on, i feel like i lost time just listening to what he had to say, which is a really beautiful and special thing. hes fantastical in the wildest way, so inspiring. what a treasure

I worry about the long term side effects of not using our brains as much in favour of tech.its like Noel was saying when he spoke of people filming the show to watch later.more n more we'r trusting tech to remember the event's for us rather than using our own memory n replaying things inside our own heads.the less we use our brains the more we'll devolve n regress
