Boy do I miss this man! What an artist!! More than ever, young folks need exposure to this "Purist" aspect of T&T's culture. In character and so many other aspects, fine form and content is sadly lacking...and now our Youth aspire toward mediocrity. Thanks for sharing...

Kelvin "Duke" Pope (1932-2009). The Calypso Monarch four years running (1968-1971). He also won the Road March 🏆with Thunder (1987). A son of Point Fortin, San Fernando (south) Trinidad. One of his trademarks as you can see clearly in this presentation he was known as the best dressed calypsonian in the business.

You live to see it come to pass... That is the power of Calypso. Thanks again and much Respect.. Long live Calypso.

Excellent. Thanks so much. Calypso is the ultimate music art form. It can entertain, it can make you dance, it can convict you for wrong-doing and make you think, and it can educate. Imagine dancing to a song like this. I pray that the art form will find a new generation to make more calypsos. I want to hear new calypsonians. Machel Montano is interesting, but he isn't a calypsonian. He is a soca singer. But this is pure kaiso, that art form that doesn't sell out for sales and money. The Mighty Duke, rest in peace!
