This is some of the best blues guitar I've ever heard. Alex Shultz is just great.

Many props to Alex. OK to say that Alex, Hollywood Fats, and every other modern player who draws upon this style owes a huge debt to Gatemouth Brown, T-Bone Walker, etc. It's all good! Love it!

el sin par Alex Schultz despachando a discreción. Un gigante inalcanzable del Jump blues.

@bluesgeek Donnie, what's really amazing is that Alex had to play bass to establish himself before he had the chance to get the guitar jobs in the first place. Imagine how many more cool licks we would have to savor if he had just replaced Joel Foy, who is also a great player.

I don't think using the term "rip" is a fair deal. We all take what we can from the best, our mentors, and do what we can with it. Alex has the gift...and it's great when the torch is carried with honor. Alex's talents lie way deeper then just being falsly accused of being a rip off.

We don't try to compare Hollywood Fats and Alex Schultz because both of them are gifted in musicianship. All the Fats licks are great and the same to Alex. The point is, they give us their feelings when make music.

@OmarAlla Given his jazz guitar studies at Berklee, Alex's style is far more polished and fluid than Fats. Fats was an influence, but Alex's musicianship, chops and tone are his alone.

What you say is very controversial. A real example is the no musical skills of Wes Montgomery and Tal Farlow, and everyone knows their virtuosity on jazz guitar.

@OmarAlla I saw both Alex and Fats more times than I can count. If you knew what you were talking about, you'd know that they, Junior Watson, Kid Ramos, and many, many more too numerous to name are all children of T-Bone Walker. A bit hard for one to rip off the other when it all began with him.
