Action sequences are quite predictable because they are bound by the turn-based combat. These calm moments aren't, so their creative minds can work freely and at a faster pace, which sometimes leads to amazing improv moments. Because of that I'll almost always prefer watching non-combat scenes.

Matt intentionally forcing the characters into a painfully dull, boring scenario is kind of ingenious. Natural and realistic roleplay/bonding moments like this keep people - players and audience alike - emotionally invested, making the more exciting/intense moments all the more so.
