Here are some things that I remember, but that weren't on the Iceberg: - There was a Miiverse art exhibition organised by the user Zockrates. Printed out Miiverse drawings were put up, as well as Wii Us through which visitors could interact with Miiverse. I think there was a livestream of this event. - The developers of Runner 2 hosted something called "Miiverse Storytime" where they would let users continue a story in the comments freely, and then read it out on camera. - A young user innocently asked "y cant metroid crawl" in the Super Metroid community which became a popular meme and was even referenced in the text of a Smash for Wii U trophy. He eventually managed to complete Super Metroid. - When Nintendo made Miiverse available on the 3DS it became flooded with little kids and trolls and the overall situation became much worse. - At some point a baseless rumor that Miiverse would shut down got out of control and everyone thought it would really happen. This was long before the actual shutdown. Nice video by the way!

The history of Miiverse is something I've always found extremely interesting, even when it was still around. I'm glad you are able to document a lot of the bigger events here!

I really, REALLY miss Miiverse. It may be a complete meme sometimes, but there's a reason why it's my "most launched/most time played" application on the Wii U. I would genuinely and honestly won't be here breathing today if it weren't for my friends that I met there. I was there for the absolute destruction of the US Luigi U Community. I remember MemeSenpai and YeahAngel. I remember the e-dates and short relationships (I'm not in one of those, fyi lol) I was (and still am) in a casual Mario Kart clan that I'm proud to call my family. I remember that I got a few warnings, but never a ban. I remember my wince-worthy posts while I was a small teen. I remember the European NSLUC being the meme center of Miiverse. I remember the Kirby lore Q&A that the devs showed in Miiverse. I remember the best post in the entire site, made by Switzer: "Is Mount Wario a race course, or a command?" I remember the final goodbye, compiling tons of art and posts from fans all over the world into a single, tear-jerking image made by Nintendo itself. And of course, the meme/NSFW apocalypse during the final hours of Miiverse. It's sad that it got the axe on November 7th, 2017. But I was happy that I experienced all of those memories, first hand, with my own two eyes. Miiverse may have a ton of unofficial clones, but it either never lasted long, or it wasn't the same. Always cherish what you have in hand, because nobody knows when it'll vanish into the night, never to be seen again. Thank you Miiverse. For bringing joy to my 14/15-year-old self (and everyone else!), and introducing me to one of my most loyal friends I could ever ask for. It may be a meme circus that forver stays in memory, but I'm glad I was along for the ride.

Some more history from when I used Miiverse all those years ago: The "I'm posting on my iPad Mini 2" meme was a trend where people would joke saying that they posted from some random device, for example "I'm posting this on my smart fridge" or "I'm posting this on my Game & Watch!" Some other interesting/iconic events include the "y cant metroid crawl" post, the "i wish squids were real" post, the Support Zero Suit Samus community, which was basically just full of lewd fanart, and the Miiverse Custom Image Tool, a 3DS homebrew application written by PF2M that allowed users to post custom images to any community. Also, the reason the Smashers moved from the Wii Fit U Community to the New Super Luigi U community was because it was one of the few communities unaffected by the redesign. Closedverse has had a pretty dark history as well. Due to poor moderation, and the fact that it was mostly just young teenagers who did nothing but shitpost on the original Miiverse, it ended up becoming a pretty bad place. People were literally blackmailing and doxxing each other in order to get them to force them to do what they wanted. There was a lot of fighting and other drama all the time. Eventually, Closedverse was shut down when apparently Arian Kordi, who kept the server Closedverse ran on online, was arrested due to having child pornography. His computer was confiscated and Closedverse has been dead since, probably for the best considering how extremely toxic it was.

As a person who was fortunate enough to not only use Miiverse on a regular basis but also get noticed by MemeSenpai himself, I can explain what he did in further detail. Keep in mind all of this happened about 3 years ago so my memory is a bit fuzzy. Feel Free to correct me if you know any other details I missed. Like many other users can recall, and from what Archiverse saved, MemeSenpai was a popular user on the site known for making posts with very well-drawn memes from 2017 that were popular at the time (Examples: Food Machine Broke, B Emoji, Floor is lava) which racked up thousands of yeahs. He was so popular that his posts would reach the comment limit (100 per post) minutes after he made a new post. He got banned by admins often, which is why he didn't have many posts up on his page or had his posts poke fun at the admins directly. However, Memesenpai encountered drama. In late 2017, his supposed brother "MemeSensei" joined Miiverse and he managed to gain a decent following. Around Late October, he began to make posts depicting himself "throwing other users in the trash"(this is actually mentioned in the iceberg), which according to MemeSenpai's apology posts, was encouraged by MemeSenpai himself. While this was probably done for fun, some users became offended at the posts, MemeSensei became Ousted, and this lead him and MemeSenpai to make apology posts for their actions. I do believe they made Closedverse accounts after Miiverse shut down, but they both abandoned them after the summer of 2018.

As someone who was an avid Miiverse user, the New Super Luigi U (NSLU) community became popular because even post-redesign, it didn't split up posts into play journals. I absolutely loved the place, and I truly remember how sad I felt when Nintendo announced that the social media was going to be closed down, it was very upsetting saying goodbye to the friends I had made and not being able to access such a wholesome and positive place which always made me super happy if I've had a bad day. I don’t care about what anyone says, Miiverse was amazing and I loved it! It gave games so much more of a personal touch more than ever before. It was really great when you played Splatoon or Mario Maker and people just expressed their opinions on what they were playing! It really felt like this huge community where everyone came together to talk about games they were either passionate about or had an experience with. I also loved the ability to share your personal gaming experiences with your friends. I never really appreciated that aspect until it got taken away from me. Drawing pictures was also an extremely smart idea! There were surely thousands of masterfully drawn pictures with so much detail. One could really lose themselves for hours in them. Sure, not everything was perfect, some posts were really dumb and meaningless and it really is a shame that some people didn’t respect it. However, Miiverse overall offered a very unique and endlessly entertaining experience and I really do miss it. Rest in peace, Miiverse.

It feels so surreal hearing about MemeSenpai again and even having DerpJacob comment on this video. I always thought the strange meme communities on Miiverse (Smash series, Wii Fit U, New Super Luigi U...) Were not very well known. I still kind of miss some of my old Miiverse friends. Also never released kicking assteroids. -people posting callie's butt when she turned around while dancing at the splat fest -beinf able to post youtube videos by uploading a mk8 replay on the mk8 replay channel, then editing the video

I remember mii verse also blowing whenever Nintendo did something controversial Saturn iwata: surprised this wasn't mentioned. Mii verse and gaming in general went differently than most days. Mii verse being a giant tribute to him that day. Another former Miiverse user here, as my username implies, I was Drew. Several of the other things I remember about Miiverse (I could probably name a ton of things if I thought about it long enough, but here are just a few): The three Wii Sports Club communities that I remember the most are the Panama Club (which a bunch of NSLUC users moved to at one point, most of them ended up moving back to the NSLUC), the Peru Club (which became a furry community and a lot of people would raid it), and the New York Club (which a friend and I made into a community dedicated to the Unova Pokémon games. It became more active when I told a popular user, KITKAT, about it, but activity later died down in it). As another comment mentioned, two of the most prominent yeahgivers on Miiverse were Paden and Caleb. There was a furry clan called the Δς clan and another clan called the TFAO, but I don't really remember much about them. A frequent trend on Miiverse was called "arrow posts," where people would make a post that had an arrow pointing to the user either above or below, making a comment about them. It was really annoying, but somehow it lasted until the end of Miiverse. Miiverse was a trainwreck of a site, but it was a beautiful trainwreck, and I do genuinely miss it. It's been quite nostalgic to see a bunch of familiar faces in this comment section.

Yeah. Miiverse was such an outdated site on arrival but there was some cursed yet endearing aura about the community that nothing has captured since. Seeing some of the Super Mario Maker 2 comments and Splatoon 2 posts makes me believe that this community could be somewhat revived with a Miiverse-like app on the Switch.

Man, I get really tired of the Miiverse hate. I don't know about anyone else, but I really loved this platform; I made so many friends there, had a great time looking at everyone's artwork, memes, opinions and posts on the communities I loved to be a part of, enjoyed having conversations with people on that New Super Luigi U community which was proclaimed the off-topic community by us users. I absolutely loved the place, and I truly remember how sad I felt when Nintendo announced that the social media was going to be closed down, it was very upsetting saying goodbye to the friends I had made and not being able to access such a wholesome and positive place which always made me super happy if I've had a bad day. I miss Miiverse so much, and I honestly hope it makes a return someday whether it be an edited version or new social media entirely; I can't stress enough how much I miss the communities that Nintendo managed to create with their platforms.

I think it's kinda sad that the "Miiverse lore" is so wildly undocumented now... When I was a kid Miiverse was probably the most exciting thing going on in my life. Considering it just being gone with so few traces when everyone was making such a big deal out of it being over makes me a little sad. I wish there had been more stuff archived. I was connected to the Spaghetti Revolution, I can attest to what happened. It actually started with me switching my Mii over to Mr. Moseby from the Suite Life of Zach and Cody. Soon after, I decided to start spamming the community of the Smashers at the time (I believe it was the Luigi U community?) with posts about a clan/cult called #TheLobby. Soon one guy following my antics decided to raid the Zelda community, to which I followed suit. Then I was banned almost immediately for something completely unrelated. The guy who started the raid then decided to pivot instead to his own thing called the "Spaghetti Revolution", its mascot being Papyrus from Undertale.
