The chicken processing plant fire is a perfect example of why OSHA exists. Essentially a hydraulic line exploded, which combined with chicken grease and fryer oil to make an EXTREMELY hot fire. The plant manager had locked the doors earlier because he didn't trust the workers, and a large amount of the workers ended up dying in the fire because of it, mostly due to smoke inhalation.

I have a feeling that AARU is an advanced Mirage feature. (Long) TLDR of the Hamlet chicken processing plant fire: 1991 in Hamlet, North Carolina 25 dead, 54 injured. Most of the victims came from poverty. Majority of deaths were from smoke inhalation. Note that half of the deceased were black, the factory was located in a poor black district, and help was explicitly refused from a nearby black fire department. Obviously, anti-black racism played a distinct part in this incident. BACKGROUND: TLDR: FACTORY WAS A SHITHOLE - Owner and manager (owner's son) with an extensive history of OSHA violations - Old infrastructure with extra damage from prev. fires - No fire safety measures (no fire alarm, no fire drills, no safety protocol, no sprinkler system, 1 single fire extinguisher, zero emergency exits) - Majority of exits locked and/or barricaded - Due to poverty and lack of education, workers didn't know they could report OSHA violations and safety concerns - Federal/local lack of funds for fire safety inspections FIRE: - HYDRAULIC LINE: Conveyor belt had a faulty hydraulic line. Repair staff were denied proper supplies by the owner and had to improvise. Repairs failed and the hydraulic line sprayed 200 liters of hydraulic fluid (highly flammable) everywhere. - FRYER: Broken conveyor belt was next to a fryer. Gas supply wasn't disabled because staff feared angering the owner. Fryer ignited the hydraulic fluid. - FIRE: Additionally fuelled by fryer oil, chicken grease coating entire floor and walls (like I said, shithole) and natural gas. Entire factory was engulfed within 2 minutes and all telephone lines destroyed. No doors between rooms, allowing fire to spread easily. Lots of carbon-monoxide and hydrocarbon-charged smoke (disables a person within a few inhalations). - ESCAPE ATTEMPTS: Fire split the factory, cutting off exits. Workers in the marinating and packing rooms escaped. The rest had to retreat toward the breakroom and loading dock. - EXITS: The loading dock's doors were blocked by a delivery truck whose driver was asleep. Workers in the breakroom tried and failed to break the breakroom window. Nearby doors were blocked by a dumpster outside. Other nearby doors were padlocked from the outside. Some workers retreated to the cooler, but the door wouldn't fully close, allowing carbon monoxide inside. - EMERGENCY RESPONSE: Manager had to drive his car to the fire department (remember phone lines were destroyed). He did NOT mention that there were workers trapped inside the factory. When firefighters arrived (~5 min later) they called for extra help. In total, over 100 firefighters and paramedics arrived. AFTERMATH: - Owner charged with 19 years and 11 months, his son (manager) got off scot free - Factory closed due to financial pressure from creditors - Many investigations, reforms and revisions to safety precaution guidelines and training for safety inspectors RIP to the victims of course

on day 51 the text when mikaeli is in the real world simulation,it says "Area: Custom" or some stuff like that- the Custom part is the important part. now on the veil information tape,theres "CUSTOM" as one of the places people can enter in the Mirage Game. I think Custom is like..the user or an external being can modify the experience to resemble anything. In this case,it's most likely Samantha Penford,or another external force we haven't met yet who altered Custom. idrk why Sam would do that tho
