As a Nets fan, I could not be any happier. Finally, we are in the process of going into a full-scale rebuild, this time with draft capital at our disposal. Not only that, but it is expected that Brooklyn is going to be in fire sale mode, which can lead to even more picks and assets. You have to be a bit more than a casual to understand why the value was there for the Knicks to trade those picks for Bridges. The way the CBA is today you can't have more than maybe 2 max contracts on your team, Bridges may not be an all-star as of today, but his contract is VERY team friendly. If you compare it to Paul George for example hes being paid 30+ more mil a year. These types of contracts are what is so valuable to a team like the Knicks who are in win now mode. Its much more than just that as well with team chemistry, elite defense, age and what not. It is a situation where the value is hard to see but it is 100% there.

I wouldn’t say they traded away their entire future? They have 2 first round picks 24, and 2 in 25. ThESE picks traded away wouldnt have mad much of a difference anyways as the knicks arent exactly good at drafting good moldable, sustainable players. The knicks had tons of picks and they decided to cash in. Nets got an A+ deal, but the knicks didnt exactly get fleeced or trade away their future as some ppl are saying. @justinj56655 ай бұрын
Randle is a top 2-3 PF in the league. We are not trading him. Mikal can now play his natural position as a 2-3, OG is a 3 but can play some 4. Julius is a HUGE mismatch bc slower PFs/Cs cannot stay with him, he can shoot, and he’s too physical for smaller PFs. His assist numbers are going to skyrocket this year. He’s absolutely surrounded by shooters and on top of that he takes a TON of pressure off of Brunson. The Knicks need a backup PF and backup C and they’re great. Probably trading Sims/Diop/2nd rounders for somebody like Nick Richards, Duop Reath, etc.
@TopothetopYT4 ай бұрын
Okay top 2-3 pf in the league is a bit of an overstatement given Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis (technically he reverted back to C but easily can sub in for PF), Sabonis, Zion, and Siakam exist in the league, but only two or three are clearly better, so definitely top 5 IF healthy

The Knicks are gonne be really good, but they have some glaring conerns: 1) Hartenstein is gone, so they need a replacement backup big man. 2) Given what happened to them in the playoffs, health. Not really, as they just got their Trevor Ariza, as Bridges is a solid shooter and great defender, like Ariza was on the 2009 Lakers. This is a different move than the Knicks of the 2000s and 2010s when their management was terrible and signing the likes of Francis, Marbury, Penny Hardaway, Noah, etc. The Nets also get to develop Cam Thomas, who SHOULD be their man as he IS a scorer (zero defense, which is vital for a team that's tanking, similar to Poole and Kuzma in Washington and Cunningham and Ivey in Detroit).

Will the Commissioner allow this? The 2 New York teams are uniting their assets to move both forward in abetter direction than if they were capable alone. Rarely do we see both teams getting exactly what they needed with both teams moving together like the Knicks acquiring and returning the Nets Picks. This was a clear priority in how they went about getting this trade to happen. I thought it was against the rules for two teams to team up like this because its like managing 2 teams in 2k only not cannibalizing 1 team to make the other a super team instead to work together one at the rebuild stage while the other is going for a championship stage. It does appear that way with this trade and for all New York haters this is now a fact that must be addressed and for New York fans its completely legal nothing to see here, about damn time!!! Lol Even if the Nets had ther pick this year they wouldn't be getting a top level talent and of all the years to sacrifice a top 3 pick this could be one of the best years to do so. Of course you always hope to pull that star out of the weeds of failure in a weak draft but even the top guys this year are guys who will have to be developed and are not day 1 starters but they are some hopeful upside and only time will tell. The Nets and the Knicks did great in this trade.

You know why they shouldn’t be scared of the Knicks? Because they’re going to be a great regular season team, again, and faltering the playoffs, why? Now they have no big men to keep them in the game with offensive rebounds when their outside shooting is off, plus OG is always hurt, and now it seems their entire team has that issue, Robinson can’t be counted on coming off surgery because he couldn’t be counted on pre-surgery, now if the Knicks get a few big men, I’m willing to say, they have a chance, but when you need a big bucket or rebound in the playoffs with 2 minutes left, they’re in trouble, and you can’t look at Golden State because the Knicks don’t have a klay or Steph, but we’ll see, just seems their team looks great, plays great but not playoff great, trade Randle for a young big, Randle is another injury magnet

Terrible trade idea because Hartenstein is a free agent and also even if he doesn't get a pay raise in free agency (absolutely won't happen) the trade would be illegal since the pacers would be taking in over 10 million more than sending out which they can't do since they are over the Cap.

Bridges is cool and all, but he's not moving the needle for a franchise.

Good thing we were 50-32 and were injured. Now we have even more firepower. Don’t need him to be a superstar, just need his addition to defense
