I remember seeing his 1st Christmas special for Thames after leaving the BBC in 1982. There was a similar "Charles & Diana" sketch where Selina Scott - who was soon to join the BBC's Breakfast Time show - did a spoof interview As always, Mike did a brilliant Prince Charles impression while Suzanne Danielle did an equally great Princess Diana impression & in particular the "shy Di" part which had the studio audience in hysterics

41:00 - Mike's wig as Brucie here was a much better wig than the one worn by the real Brucie in the 1980s

Christmas 1983, Thames Television had no control over networking on Christmas Day as it landed on a Sunday, so their big Christmas shows had to wait until Boxing Day and 27th December. Notice they didn't place Mike alongside Morecambe and Wise on Boxing Night, which would have been a good line up. Mike relegated to 27th December.

8:20 - Doing Harold Wilson impressions in 1983 was one reason why many switched Mike off - for the generation who remembered Wilson, they felt this was old hat, for the younger audience, they really didn't know much about Wilson and didn't care. His reluctance to let go of these 1970s politicians was his downfall.

Mike as the late Sir Bruce Forsyth at 40:14 looks like he is appearing on the actual Play Your Cards Right studio set because of how exact it looks. Plus, clever usage of split screen to give the impression Mike is being both Sir Brucie and Prince Charles (as he was known at the time) at the same time.

I think they didn't have access to the original set, as Play Your Cards Right was produced by London Weekend Television who hated Thames Television and wouldn't have allowed them to use their set. So Thames had to reproduce it at very large cost.

12:34. How difficult that was to do back then! It's priceless and touching. Cyril would not have gained much from those dancers and frankly that part should be lost. Ronnie's references to losing his memory in turn look poignant...

Now here is a problem at 52:00 - his Bob Monkhouse voice has really become very bad by 1983. When he did his Monkhouse impression in 1976, he sounded like Bob, come 1983 the mannerisms are perfect, the voice is now pure awful. Anyone else notice this?
