Winston Sharples was such an underrated cartoon composer.

Originally released in August 1947. Rousing score by Winston Sharples! "I'm An Old Cowhand" [by Johnny Mercer] was originally introduced by Bing Crosby in "Rhythm on the Range" (1936). Jackson Beck, Jack Mercer, Sid Raymond and Arnold Stang provide voices...

Clips from this cartoon were used in the music video "The Bad Guy" in the Shining Time Station episode "Bully for Mr. Conductor." That episode introduced me to this cartoon.

On the subject of re-uses of this cartoon, the clip about 4:00 in of the cowboy shooting himself in the head was used in the opening credits of the "Futurama" episode "Insane in the Mainframe".

KTTV in Dallas-For Worth used to air this cartoon with original titles as part of the NTA package in the early 1980s, so a new print for syndication had to have been struck at that time, and should be out there somewhere minus the time code.

Negelecting Harvey Beaks and other nicktoons that never had a chance and failing to release the Noveltoons, Terrytoons, and other classic cartoons is exactly why I do not understand Viacom and their negelectince of any cartoon not Spongebob or Paw Patrol.

They probably "failed" to release them since people are such huge snowflakes that cartoons from the 20s-50s would offend them

That and most of the executives at what is now ViacomCBS seem to think that either releasing the Noveltoons (that they still have ownership of), Terrytoons, and other classic cartoons in their vault won't make them any money or that the audience doesn't know or care about characters like Betty Boop, Mighty Mouse, Heckle and Jeckle, etc.

@superleviathan Suprisngly, it does NOT despite the fact that Jerry himself along with a few other GAC people, that I did. I'm not angry at them, just confused.

@superleviathan Sorry my reply wasn't very clear. I was talking about Bargain Counter Attack. This one does come from one Jerry's DVDs though.

@GhettoKarter1992 Unfortunately, I think that the original titles to most, if not all, of those cartoons titles are lost, only the artwork exists.

I was shocked too when I saw old macdonald sing a long that Paramount made cartoons before Charlotte's web. Sadly the only way back then for a child to easily access a vintage Paramount cartoon in the mainstream was to watch Popeye the acme hour on cartoon network. They had given up on the non Turner public domain cartoons at this point unless you caught late night black and white but then adult swim came along. I never saw 90s Saturday morning AMC blocks,.

Decent find. Does this come from Jerry's DVDs? I heard that a couple of 40's cartoons on those have original titles, including this and Bargain Counter Attack (man, I wish I could see the original titles to THAT)
