Brewers are not giving up tailgating. That is a huge part of the team's culture. "The "Beer District" is a pipe dream.

Agreed. Tailgating as been a thing here for decades long before Miller Park.

I feel like the brewers would want to have a parking lot anyways since they make so much money on parking

@@SpeediturtleThey didn't really make that much money on parking. It's the tailgating they want to preserve.

Forget about the delays caused by the crane collapse. What was important was the three ironworkers who lost their lives. Jefferey Wischer, William DeGrave and Jerome Starr need to be remembered. During construction operations safety has to be Job !. Lives were lost because safety protocols were not followed. A bronze sculpture was installed at Miller Park in 2001 to honor the three workers. The Brewers wore an Ironworkers Local 8 memorial patch on the left breast of their jerseys following the accident for the remainder of the 1999 season. Include that in your coverage of this disaster too.

I still call it Miller Park. It will always be Miller Park to me. Been there a ton of times! Beautiful Park! I was actually down there the day they did this lift on bike. Rode my bike down there and watched for a bit. Decided to go back home due to the wind. Hard to ride a bike against the wind. Got home and heard about the crane collapse. Was pretty stunned since I just saw it 20 minutes before.

Went to both County Stadium as a kid in '79 and Miller Park twice within 3 years time. Going to Brewers games is really worth the 1 1/2 hour drive from Illinois I think, and everything is a lot cheaper than Wrigley. Sox Park is affordable too, but in a terrible neighbourhood. I'd go to a Brewers game any day now.

I always wanted the Twins to have a retractable roof instead of open air, as Target Field is. But after seeing the problems many of them have had, maybe it's just as well we didn't get a roof.

There was also a “neutral” site series at Miller Park between the Cubs and Astros in 2008 when Hurricane Ike hit Houston. Even though the Astros were technically the home team, it was obviously a cubs crowd.

July 14, 1999.. I certainly remember that afternoon quite well. I was 14 at the time and I lived about 25 miles south of the stadium (Racine County-The county south of Milwaukee County). The single most notable and relevant part of what I remember from that day is how windy it was. It was a wind tunnel outside. It was your classic 85 degree windy summer day. I believe we were under Wind Advisories and maybe even a high wind warning.. back in those days people never took things like that seriously. People thought it was nerdy to read into weather advisories.. So whomever was in charge of operations decided that safety wasn't as important as meeting their daily deadlines. They were trying to rush that ballpark together so that it would open in 2000. They really should've used their heads. I was 14 but even then I remember thinking, why would they be operating that crane in these winds? Smh If a 14 year old knew better you'd think some of these onsight engineers would have.

I was at the first games at County Stadium after the crane accident, a doubleheader vs Kansas City after they postponed the first game after the collapse. The bleachers were blocked off and many folks, myself included, went to the end of the RF upper deck to view the wreckage It was a sad time for sure

Parking lots are much better for attendance and fan experience. Lots of people like tailgating before games and going with downtown locations ruins that experience.

On September 14th, 2008, the Cubs and Astros game was moved to Miller Park because of Hurricane Ike affecting the Houston area. Carlos Zambrano of the Cubs threw a no hitter in that game against the Astros. So, the Indian/ Angel's games that you mentioned that were moved to Miller Park because of weather issues were not the only games that MLB moved to the park because of weather problems is why I mentioned it, for what it's worth. By the way, I did attend one of the $10.00 discounted games in that Indian/Angel series. They didn't open the entire Miller Park for it because the limited attendance didn't justify doing it.
@giannisforprez127111 ай бұрын
Remember that. Also around 5-10 years ago there was a hurricane that swept through Miami and they moved the marlins brewer series out of Miami and to am fam field. So the brewers were the away team at what for most intensive purposes a home game lol. Same process for tickets too, just 10.00
@packerbrewerbuck11 ай бұрын
@giannisforprez1271 Yes that was in 2017 I believe for Hurricane Irma. The Brewers sold 1st and 2nd level tickets for $10 and had to call in concession workers from San Diego! No joke. They played the Marlins intros and walk up songs and even set up a makeshift center field monument for them with flamingos and palm trees lol

Who cares about the design. Big Blue Riggers (the 3 killed being part of that team said the lift should not happen due to wind gusts) Management said the lift should proceed. You might ask why those riggers still went up to supervise the lift. It’s what Riggers do worldwide, we try to make sure that people are safe from what our job demands of us. We put ourselves on the line to do the impossible. We build the world along with all our fellow tradesmen and tradeswomen. I have worked with wahine riggers, industrial abseilers there’s no gender, just respect because you don’t get to work at heights unless you’re comfortable and can handle it.
