I really liked what you said about the schizophrenic becoming a monk. I too have been diagnosed with schizophrenia and buddhism helped me take care of it to the point where I generally can't see the symptoms in my head at all. It's amazing how the teachings of the buddha are so affective in treatment. It would be wonderful if I could be a monk someday too.

Every person I've met with this diagnosis, including a young bright kind family member and many older pilgrim sorts is a very spiritual thinker & seems to access, or not be able to block out, realities others can't see or hear. (Michael Pollan's brain research book explains that much of the brain's function is to block OUT most of reality so we will focus on self interest & survival...which itself causes us to ignore spiritual reality & compassion, etc, a paradox Buddhism addresses). Buddhism practices emphasize one pointed attention & metta, bodhicitta, etc, so it'd make a lot of sense that this ficus capacity itself would curtail the distracting clamor. Thank you for bravely walking your wonderful path in the universe, which helps the whole cosmos evolve.

@@richevandroo5041 Rich, i can. My mom had Alzheimers, so i read up on the nutrition aspect. Dr Daniel Amen & other brain researchers say Stop the high carb & fructose/ glucose, no artificial sweeteners (stevia is ok), use coconut oil, other healthy fats, definitely take many grams of fish oil (omega 3, deflammatory), use greens, beets, walnuts, fish, broccoli & TURMERIC w black pepper, sri lanka cinnamon, cloves, cumin seed, etc. Outdoor time & daylight, sunshine, sitting or lying on the earth, walking, dancing, temperature changes (sweat, wash in cold water), effort, wildlife & trees, singing, creative effort & LOVE. That's a brain diet. Bless you!

Ajahn Brahm, thank you so much for this. After hearing one of your stories tonight I realize an experience I had as a small child was real and not make believe. It was my mind which helped me when my brain was too sick to help. I, too, saw a ghost which was very benevolent. I am so grateful to be a lay Buddhist now and very grateful I took the precepts with you. Sadhu. Sadhu. Sadhu. 🙏🙏🙏

Thank you Ajahn Brahm! Good that you told this story about the Maths genius student, with an IQ of 126, who was studying for his PhD at Sheffield University, .I read about the paper published by Prof. Lober, many years ago, and his finding was published in Irish Times, It's a big misunderstanding and a misconception the people have, that mind is in the brain although Buddha has very clearly said that it has no particular place to reside but remains associated with a living body of humans, animals and other beings. "Duran gaman eka charan, assareeran, guha sayan, ..."🙏🙏🙏

The idea of being kind and feeling delight in your body during meditation is so beautiful and novel to me. I've had difficulty meditating in the past due to discomfort in my legs and it kind of made me feel that true understanding was beyond my reach because I couldn't get past my body. You made me see a whole other possibility and I'm truly happy about that. Thank you so much for your teaching .

I did a little earth energy work on someone with terminal brain cancer, like meditating with the earth, and he had weeks supposedly. Yet when they redid the scan they couldn't find anything! They said the other scans must have been mistakes lol We both felt something like a bolt of lightning go through him during the session (he was laying on the earth on a sunny day). Wild what is possible...but not promised.

Thank you Ajahn Brahm for the meditation session and the talk. I know you have a good sense of humour so I thought I might tell you a doctor joke. A guy wakes up in a hospital room and he finds that he is connected to drips and monitors. He cant remember what happened but he seems to be ok. Then he lifts the bed covers and he is shocked....yes his penis is missing! Shocked, he hears the door opening and in comes the senior doctor.....Ah Mr. Smith, you're awake and from the look on your face I can see you have looked under the bed covers. Yes, says the guys, looking very worried. Dont worry Mr Smith, you are one very lucky man, yes we had to remove your penis but by pure luck we happen to have the number one penis transplant surgeon visiting the hospital today and we also just happen to have a suitable penis that your body would accept without any problems. How lucky is that. However this operation isn't cheap and it would cost you €50000 to have it done. What do you think Mr Smith. The guy looks at the doctor and says it sounds good but it does seem to be a lot of money and as he has been married for 30 years any big decisions that might cost a lot of money he has always talked it over with his wife first. The doctor says that isn't a problem and in fact the guys wife is outside waiting to see him. I'll tell you what, says the doctor, I've got to finish doing my rounds so why dont you talk it over with your wife and I'll look in on you later after visiting time is over. The guy agrees and the doctor goes on his way. Hours later the doctor calls back and says, well Mr Smith, now that you have had some time to discuss the situation of costs with your wife have you come to a decision. Yes doctor, we're getting a new kitchen!

God will always love you, even if the whole world hates you, God will love you and will never stop loving you, no matter what you have done in the past, what you do here and now, no matter what you have not done but maybe you should have done and no matter what you do in the future, never doubt God's Love, because every day God does everything in his power to make every being and creatures feel bearable enough. God wants objective good for all of creatures and creation and beings, and not only for the selected ones, God seeks possible good for the whole of the Universe as all that with his energy of Unconditional Love came into being and without his Love nothing could exist, but in order to exist forever, every being must get to know the God of Unconditional Love and teach this Love from him, because his Love covers all creation and all essence only from the God of Unconditional Love, you can learn how to treat all creatures. the tore is around you and under your feet as well as those that live above your head, regardless of their function and size, whether they are tiny as microrganisms or as large as planets, God of Unconditional Love loves all creatures of equal measure without exception and will always love all creation and all Spiritual beings corporeal made of the matter and energy of God and Emotional not all beings today have the awareness and understanding for the God of Unconditional Love who is a complete wholeness and to a completely perfect wholeness no being can add anything from himself, but all creatures essence lacks a perfect wholeness to create and become like God of Unconditional Love and rather everyone should be served to him out of Love for him and understanding and getting to know him, and not for fear of him or for the reward called the lack of all suffering and pain called human languages Paradise because Paradise is the possibility of continuing to know God of Unconditional Love and his plans towards all beings that God created to learn from God and his Unconditional Love how to treat all the creatures and how each of them could feel bearable and coexist with all beings and creatures..,,Mind topic and painkillers like morphine ?? There is much more to the human brain than you think, but one drop of water is taken from the ocean, and there will be more oceans in the brain than one and more spaces than the eye can reach. And what is poison for some people may be a medicine for others, but when my grandfather was in the hospital, the doctors gave him morphine before his death, my grandfather ordered the doctor to take it from him and called Morphine "shit," my grandfather said, I'm almost 100 years old and I am asking doctors to take this shit away from me and everyone has the right to spiritual freedom and choices and to perceive what is good and healthy and useful for his Spirit and what is not healthy for the individual Spirit,,God created All plants and gave people brains to use them properly, and there is no "human" creature on earth that is omniscient,..can you call a marijuana plant, for example, a plant of satan or quackers so why some people call plants and other creatures so vividly ??? And everything on the planet earth is the property of one God..
