i am flattered so many people think this, and i was pleasantly surprised to see so much of the book of bill lined up with what i drew in the animatic :P like the axolotl part and bill messing with ppl throughout history ofc my animatic lore doesn't line up 100%, but it's still cool how close i was able to get using little clues in the journal 3 special edition and the bill reddit AMA (both of which i highly recommend checking out 👀👀)

After reading The Book of Bill, my head canon is that Bill was tricked into destroying his home universe by a cosmic horror. Bill says he was a two dimensional being with the ability to see into the third dimension and a desire to prove he wasn’t crazy. What happened next is mostly redacted as Bill seems to briefly lose his connection to the book due to something like PTSD, but the word “mandibles” is visible along with brief phrases describing an apocalyptic event. In fact, I’m pretty sure that the glob of matter from Bill’s home universe that he keeps under his hat is made of the blood of the other 2D people that was covering Bill at the end of his story. I think that trying to trick a 3 dimensional person into opening a portal to the nightmare realm is an attempt to process the trauma and prove that anyone could destroy everything they ever held dear. Bill denies that he misses his people, but he also drunkenly grabs a phone after a bad day and says, “Hi Mom, it’s Billy…..Where did you all go?” Which sounds like he misses them to me. It’s interesting to think that he might have been a normal-ish kid at some point in time before losing his world and his mind.

We dont know the specifics but it was Bill himself that destroyed his dimension in an attempt to show the 3rd dimension to them. Also it cant be their blood as Bill says that its the only thing left of his dimension. And the reason he's tryna get a portal to the Nightmare Realm is because there wont be a Nightmare Realm soon. So he's just finding for a new playgroud not trying to prove anything. Yes he misses them. He has extreme guilt over his actions but chose to live in denial about how he set them free.

I literally making an animatic sort of thing right now and it’s about bills plan was if he was able to get the journal. Idk if it’s in the show, but it’s in the book if you don’t know what it says, here “ Note to self: possessing people is hilarious! To think of all the sensations I’ve been missing out on- burning, stabbing, drowning. It’s like a buffet tray of fun! Once I destroy that journal, I’ll enjoy giving this body its grand finale- by throwing it off the water tower! Best of all, people will just think PineTree lost his mind, and his mental form will wander in the mindscape forever. WOW. It’s so legit, and I can see how he looks so similar to Ford.. and for 2:34, the song fits perfectly with how Bill entered Stan’s mind and failed. But the blue fire, HOW JUST HOW DID HE MAKE IT SO GOOD. When Bill stretched his hand out, just wow. WOW. IT. WAS. SO. GOOD. I'll say it again, but I was AMAZED and DAZZLED. And zoon through the town after Weirdmaggedon, to Bill's statue. I WAS LOOKING AT THE BUTTERFLIES LIKE- OMG. THE COLORS ARE SO ATTRACTING!!!! But in a ULTIMATE good way. But when I saw the ending, oh my god. HIS MOM AND HIM TOGETHER?!?!?!? Tbh I felt bad for Scalene, aka Bill's Mom. She died peacefully, but I'm happy when I see them together ❤.
