The episode works around that by not telling us who Geordi is being 'trained' to kill, and by revealing who the inside man was. Vengeance Factor told us who plus practically why and how halfway through the episode. Mind's Eye shows that you can reveal some information without giving away everything to create a still entertaining story. Thanks for the content and get ready for season 5!

You know, I've always found a Romulan Warbird decloaking far more scary that any Klingon ship doing so. None more scary than this episode where Geordi is in a shuttlecraft. Great episode, very possibly a nod to The Manchurian Candidate. Also, Larry Dobkin (Kell) is actually Lawrence Dobkin. In addition to being an actor, he was also a TV director, helming episodes of The Munsters and a certain episode of TOS. Hint: combine the name of a cartoon mascot for canned fish and the general name of a generation of people born between 1964-1981.

With how many times shuttles crash and/or their officers are kidnapped on the way to conferences, you would think the Federation wouldn't let their high ranking officers travel alone across potentially hostile space without es courts, but as we know, security of their ships and its officers apparently just isn't a priority for the Federation for some reason.

There's something absolutely terrifying about being FORCED to watch something terrible, and not even having the choice of closing your eyes and looking away. There's an episode of Ghost in the Shell where they're tracking a serial killer, and they find out that one of the things he does before he brutalizes his victims is he hooks up his visual output to them so they're forced to watch, through his eyes, as he mutilates them. Obviously a much gorier version of the same idea, but the same horrifying concept. I remember I passed out when I saw that GITS episode.

Over the years there will be episodes and stories that just stick with you that are iconic of the series. "Best of Both Worlds", "Measure of a Man", "Drumhead" (a few to come in season 5!) are examples that are truly S tier. There are lots more A's and B's that are good to great like "Mind's Eye" that are fun to rewatch but don't stay with you in the same way. I guess retrospectively you'll get what I'm saying and your S tier will be more refined.

Picard's Klingon swear is essentially, "I have a thousand things on my plate," which is a way of saying, "I don't have time for your shit!"

There will be a big reveal of the "shadowy romulan" to come. I didn't know they forshadowed it in this episode until now.

I don't understand the need of so many commenters to say this. That in itself is a spoiler. Call it Spoiler Lite. Thank goodness there's a good likelihood that they've already seen the episode you've just referenced.

All of your speculation is just giving me a big Riker Style shit eating grin. All I'll say is you're gonna enjoy ds9 quite a bit

The writers always had an unwritten rule that the Romulan Empire was always smaller, with fewer resources, than the Klingons and the Feds. Given how closely tied the Feds and Klingons are thanks to seeing it in The Defector, their alliance threatens their smaller Empire. I’ve said this in many comment sections before, but this Fed and Klingon alliance is vital. The Organian people might have some insight into things… This episode is a bit of foreshadowing for many future events. I wonder who that shadow person was? 🤔

The writer knows the MK Ultra programme / Surhan Surhan story.

That Shadowy Romulin will have reveal soon enough 🤫🤔 I’m surprised you didn’t find the voice familiar.

I like this episode, but Geordie's phaser blasts a hole in the ceiling at the end and nobody even mentioned it.
