And pretending that he didn’t know how to dance at beginning is amusing. And turning down the come on of a really attractive young woman. He was so clean it was like he wasn’t even thinking about it

It's 2018, and I'm 28yrs old. This movie popped into my life right when I needed it. It's not just about school... It's about education of life, which countless generations can relate to. I have fallen completely in love with this movie and it's soundtrack. I have a few people in my life that the theme song applies to and I will forever be grateful for them. I hope this movie never fades away. It's so wholesome and heartwarming.

Boy 28. That means you born in 1990. That's when I first seen this. Got me through some bad times. Even though it's outdated as far as the mannerisms and fads it has lots of timeless themes

@@nickpelz4373 I could not agree more!!! 1990 seems like forever ago to ME...but my mom (she'll be 73 in Dec) saw this movie when she was young...and I can't even BEGIN to imagine how that feels....it's polarizing in a way...to see that not as much has changed as we had hoped or aspired for...I remember in school, there was talk and rumor of driving hovermobiles by now...nope...the furthest we've gotten is a few electric cars XD it's really something..Kids don't realize just how good they have it these days...no more floppy disks, no more CDs, no more cassettes, no more landlines, no more dial-up....it's a wild world we're living in now, but this movie keeps me humble...it reminds me that before i was adult, times were hard and tough, and i made it through....and if need be, i can again without all these luxuries.

@@calli.catastrophe I wished I'd have seen it in 67 as well but I was born in 73. And yes things change and with more technology we pay the price as morality declines. But I think people today can still relate to the basic theme of self improvement, confidence and basic human decency. You are an awesome person. Why can't I meet sensitive, thoughtful and intelligent people like you on Facebook and the real world instead of shallow ones.

@@nickpelz4373 we're a rare breed....and sadly...a lot of us good ones are [sometimes] easily bullied until there's no more [or very little] online presence. I've had my fair share of being cyber-stalked, harassed, etc...it can really make you jaded if you let it...but i try to focus more on my successes in real life and less about my successes online. I have a big heart and want to do amazing things...seems like this day and time, people just aren't ready for that. I will always stick up for the 'little guy', or the outcast, whether online or off....that's just how I am...I'm not perfect...I'm nowhere close, but I try my best to be a good person. If I died tomorrow, I'd want to be remembered as someone that loved with all my heart and always greeted people with a smile....and god-willing, that's how I'm gonna go out lol...all that said, i don't really give out all my personal information...but if you go to my channel, on the right hand side of the channel art, you can find an icon to my Instagram, and i think my linktree (where all my social medias are) and follow me on those and msg me if you like. I hope you have an awesome day wherever you are :) take care friend ♥

@@calli.catastrophe True to all. Except unfortunately I don't have many real life successes so online stuff hits me hardly but oh well.. And I realize as a public figure you can't give out private information. I wasn't trying to invade your privacy so sorry if it came off that way. I was just saying I had respect for you. I'm gay anyway. But yes I can go on your channel which I already did because I was curious. And I can follow you on Instagram and maybe if I see you feel comfortable I can message you. Sidney Poitier does a great job combining dances of the time~moves from The Pony, The Jerk, The Frug and others in a really cool way! I've read where people criticize his dancing. Hey! Those are the moves we were doing! There were so many dances, each with its own song. I saw this at the drive-in when I was a teenager. The other movie was "Up the Down Staircase", also about a schoolteacher facing difficult situations. Thanks for the scene! I wish you also had "Off and Running".

One of my favorite scenes from any movie, and any time I watch To Sir With Love, I end up playing this scene a few times, then after I finish the movie, I'll play it a few more. "It's getting harder all the time" is one of my favorite songs, and I love how, in this scene, they start out with the intro of "Off and Running" and use that to lead into "It's Getting Harder all the time". Sidney Poitier, of course, plays that transition perfectly, acting like he didn't sign up for that. :)

I lived the Mod times and this takes you right back into them like a time machine. Sir Poitier (even his name is elegant) clearly kicked the potent black actor movement massively forward in modern cinema. No "Uncle Tom" slack-jawed, comedic stereotypes or single dimension criminal turns for this master thespian. He always firstly embodied: a human being -- simple and true. Characters trying to fit in, figure it all out, and fix the outcomes.... whatever blockades stood in his powerful way. And the timing of his screen presence is even more prescient considering the abysmal system of racial strife and segregation in this supposed "modern" age.

awkward at first, as Sir is now on the kids terrain. But he shows respect for their culture, puts down his glass, picks up the steps and goes with it.
