this is the same concept of reflective verb "sich" in German. Tack så jättemycket.

It works the same way in Russian! Our reflexive verbs have got the ending "сь/ся" [s'/sja] - it is very close to the Swedish "sig" - and they refer to grooming, learning, getting married/divorced etc. In Italian there is also reflexive "si".

A lo mejor sabe español, y bueno, el español es el segundo idioma occidental más hablado, así que, sería ilógico poner ejemplos en chino o ruso jajaja

Another amazing and of course educative video! Jag bodde i Sverige för många år men hade stora problem att lära sig svenska. Dina videor hjälper mig mycket! I was wondering whether you are a teacher or simply interested in helping others?

I must learn German but I hate it. I see Swedish awesome + helpful for my learning German + I love Assassin's Creed. Okay, Swedish has some common words with English when they are not common with German but when German is like the same with English - these words are different in Swedish. After German to see "er" in Swedish is a little bit crazy because in German it's "he"

I'm German and yeah our grammar can be something else for sure, even many native speakers can't do it perfectly and we have a lot of variation in regional dialect on top of that. I'm sorry that you don't enjoy it, but I agree that Swedish could be fun and helpful because there are many similarities that I've found so far. I've only been casually looking into Swedish for about a month now, but there are indeed a lot of parallels when it comes to all aspects, be it pronunciation, vocabulary, sentence structure etc. For me, being fluent in German and English, it's been really fun to see how Swedish kind of combines some aspects of both! Anyway, I hope you can find some more joy in your studying journey:) Also these videos are lovely, even just learning some Swedish casually without a real reason to actually get to a point where I could speak it, this is super interesting and really helpful!!

3:41 So you don't have a word for "teach" to tell apart, but only lär???
@paulingvar
@paulingvar 11 ай бұрын
The same word, basically. To teach = att lära ut. But you normally adjust the pronomen; "I teach you" = "Jag lär er " (more than 1 person) , or "jag lär dig" ( 1 person / 2nd person singular). Thus teacher = lärare

I think the English language is much more comfortable with intransitive verbs, whereas in Swedish and the other Germanic languages, intransitivity is seen as the devil. In English we only use reflexivity when we want to emphasize that it happened to our[selves]. If I say in English, "I washed myself", it sounds a little funny, because we are comfortable with using a prepositional phrase such as "I washed up" or "I got washed". If I said, "I wash myself", that sort of implies that I was really dirty and had to scrub extra hard. Or, it could also imply that someone else was in the shower with me, and that I had to wash that other person in addition to myself.
