Former Pixelmon contributor here! The cancellation statement in 2017 was fake, it was initially cancelled due to heavy toxicity within the team... ironic considering the absolute crapshow Pixelmon is now Pixelmon had a bunch of crap happening internally that got called out, as well as the mod making changes nobody liked and doubled down, thus leading to the rapid downfall of the mod, even before Cobblemon came out And let's not forget stealing models from Cobblemon (though that's a more recent thing)

Dramas aside, pixelmon is currently so broken it's impossible to play it along with any other mod. Shit's even worse than optifine in that regard. That and the creepy 3D models are the main reasons I even discovered Cobblemon, the superior pokemon mod.

cobblemon allows for mobs to spawn and has idle animations but is literally nothing more than a ripoff of the orignal mod "pokemon in minecraft" which was later rebranded to pixelmon when they came back in 2014

I'm baffled after not seeing one single comment about Pokecube. Very old mod, not as popular but not just any mod you find in a street. It even updated faster than Pixelmon at some point (Megas got added here way earlier than on Pixelmon). Pokecube was the Cobblemon of 10 years ago (Still got some updates to recent versions though).

I personally started playing Cobblemon because I literally cannot play anything higher than 1.18 on forge, and cobblemon just happens to have a fabric version, and then, I just got hooked on cobblemons more survival focused gameplay and couldn't come back to pixelmon even if I could play it, can't wait for them to release the NPCs eventually, because would be very cool to see Cobblemon adventure maps pop up like what happened with Pixelmon

To me, Pixelmon got TOO competitive. I mean, even the AI trainers use highly competitive strategies to win. Not only that, from what I remember, they will always be a few levels higher than you, unless you get to level 100 I think. But anyway, I swear I remember I fought a gym leader on a server who at first had level 50 pokemon. I'm like, "Ok. No way I'm winning this with my mid 40's team. I'll train some more." Then suddenly, that same gym leader's team is suddenly level 58. Like what?!

16:59 Actually that was not an official Palworld mod. If anything, Nintendo is actively monitoring Palworld for anything they can legally target. Hence the speedy takedowns of the mods. Which also confirms... The Pocket Pair team did NOT steal any models or designs from pokemon. If they did... Nintendo would have shut them down with a C&D months ago. The designs were inspired at best, just like what Nintendo did with Pokemon taking inspiration from Dragon Quest.

The biggest factor for me picking Cobblemon over Pixelmon is the models. Pixelmon seemingly just uses the models and textures from the Pokemon games, which quite frankly, looks ugly as hell in Minecraft. Cobblemon on the other hand is hand crafting voxel models that fit with Minecraft AND have unique lovingly made animations. Even if progress is slow, I'm all on board with Cobblemon as THE definitive Minecraft Pokemon experience.

Hate to be that guy but I feel like this should be repeated and clarified everytime we can. Nintendo is actually 🤓👆 NOT targetting this Minecraft mod nor anything related to the Pokémon franchise since it is only parcially their property and their participation in the franchise is only that of publishing the games, aka ensuring this are exclusive to their consoles and making publicity about them. Anything else, anything that has to do with the developement of the games or the legal actions related to them such as closing fan projects are duties of Game Freak and The Pokémon Company respectively. I know Nintendo DOES do pretty bad things but they aren't even close to being as bad as The Pokémon Company with fan content and their actual games are much better (generally at least). I don't think is correct to put these 2 in the same bundle as you might negatively impact the judgement of many people and because of this they could loose on great experiences and pieces of art, for example Nintendo is pretty much the only big game company that is not having massive layoffs as off recently for no reason and the official Super Mario Brothers DLC for Minecraft Bedrock is pretty cool. On the other hand there is what's shown in this video and Pokémon games (part of the highest growsing franchise of all time) are about 8 years behind current technology standards. So PLEASE, stop saying that Nintendo is suing Pokémon fan content, it's just not true.
