Unfortunately, we all suffer in one way or another. Our suffering is an effect of sin and brokenness in our world so it’s not surprising that we feel the effects of Original Sin each day.
Today, Fr. Mike delves into the Sacrament of Reconciliation, where the Holy Spirit shows up to remind of us of our sin and restore our conviction that God is offering us His forgiveness. These are the twofold incredible miracles!

I'm so happy I went to confession this past Feast day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. After 12 years of missing out on it. I needed it to save my life.

Confession is like a shower for one's soul. The more frequently we avail ourselves of it, the more attractive we are. Etc

So true, Father. I sobbed my way through confession earlier this week. The priest hearing my confession gently helped lead me when I got stuck - and helped me put voice to my sin. Then he asked the Lord to rid me of oppressive spirits and heal me. I cannot begin to express how free I feel. I am so thankful for God's forgiveness and healing touch. Truly confession is a healing sacrament.

@@coleyod I feel like this power we speak of is solely based on the idea that we hype or talk something up that has done nothing. That being said God essentially does nothing in this world. I think it's time to admit that God doesn't want care about people at all. Truly and honestly because he's mad like in the Old Testament.

This really is crazy that this video came out today because of what happened to me today. A year and a half ago I went from a lukewarm Christian aka Christian still a slave to sin to being truly born again after surrendering fully to Jesus with a heart of repentance (turned away from sin). Since then I strengthened my armor by spending time with God, frequently reading the Bible and spending much time in adoration and church. But these past couple weeks I was slacking. I wasn't doing any of that much. And soon came the thoughts and memories of sin and before I knew it I had sinned. I immediately returned to God and kept praying but I felt the presence of evil with me and the thought of being with evil and not God was tearing me apart. All the churches around me only do confession on Saturdays but I knew I couldn't wait. This morning I woke up at 7am and could not go back to sleep. I felt the presence of evil in my room. I prayed but I felt it was obvious what I had to do. The church I go to had mass about an hour after. I knew God wanted me to go and He would get the priest to give me confession and that's exactly what happened. I cried being in a room with imagery of the saints. Yes I had accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior again. Yes I had a repentant heart again. I had done what I needed to do to be saved but I still was not fully reconciled. There was damage to the relationship and evil crept in. Once I got confession the miracle that Father Mike said happened. What could have taken days, weeks or months to return to (where my relationship was with God), was quickly brought back by the sacrament. To feel there grace, it's impossible to not cry.

I was baptised into the catholic faith 8 years ago. Last week I walked into my church and asked for my first ever confession. I was absolutely terrified and at one point was about to walk away before the priest arrived. I confessed and my priest was amazing. It felt a great weight was lifted off my shoulders and he advised me to do confession more often. I wish done this much earlier but I believe my timing was right when it needed to be. Mr Mike, your videos have been a huge blessing and I’ve learnt so much. God bless you.

I believe God knew we needed the sacrament of confession. Sin is so great, so powerful when not taken care of. It holds us back. We are not free. Jesus hung on the cross for everyone, because you are right Fr. Mike, the default is brokenness. I was a Baptist, then converted to Catholicism. I appreciate the sacrament of confession, because it makes me stop in this busy world, this distracting world, this evil world. I get to think, examine my conscience and visit the confessional. I went through a period in my life as a young Catholic standing in line for confession, thinking what am I going to confess? I'm a good person, what am I doing wrong? I really had to search out my heart, I thought I knew so much. I actually thought about others sins and used them as a barometer for measuring myself. Then, the miracle you talked about Fr. Mike, happened to me. The holy spirit revealed to me my true self, my sinful self. I then began crying many, many tears for the things I have done, not realizing how I was. I realize how I have sinned and how much I didn't know. Today, I enter the confessional knowing God's love and mercy for me, knowing I need HIM. God continues to restore me with a little glue and gold dust each time I turn to HIM. I pray the sacrament of confession becomes a revealer of truth for all, so we can come closer to HIM. I pray that each time we come together as a people for mass, that we believe that it is Christ sacrificed on the altar, the true body and blood of Christ, which Jesus willing gave us. Jesus knew we needed this great sacrifice, He knew we needed confession. Let's all pray that we can embrace these miracles by speaking about confession to others and the great mercy it contains. Fr. Mike is doing his part, now let's do our part as lay people. Go to confession, then share with other people the unbelievable joy it contains that cannot be found anywhere else on Earth.

Jesus is truly in the confessional. The more I go, the more I feel His presence. One day I was in the confession line begging God to help me to make a good confession because I so desire to become a Saint but fail daily. At the end of my confession the priest spoke to me a minute and then said…”you have to do these things if you want to become a saint.” Needless to say I cried.

Incredibly, miraculously enough I do know what that was about. Anyways, I figure you might like this one... if you take the acronymal parts of Tanakh and translate them, you get: Ta = chamber, guardroom Na = I (we) pray now, pls or to beg, implore Kh = courtyard, thread, or tailor It reminds me of a confessional. Sometimes I just want to scream out loud instead of silently. I actually went out into the desert once and did that. It felt like the 'roar'; the first utterance of Elohim (the dieties) and like I was breaking things in a sweeping wave of energy that was rooted in the fabric of my loins. I didn't like that feeling. I didn't like feeling the power of destruction and knowing that it came from my being, from my fabric. Maybe this is why Genesis 1 is hitting me so hard. What if all this world is was honestly born from the abyss of darkness and wickedness which Gen 1 indicates? Is it because I haven't incorporated and rectified this aspect of myself yet? But, how could I? Darkness and evil are too very different things. Evil shouldn't be "incorporated" (Jungian). Yet, are they two different things? Genesis 1 isnt seeming to differentiate:l So, are unrestrained, sweeping forces of destruction not evil? I suppose not. To call a hurricane evil would be non-sensicle. But, then..., the careless treatment of the earth which gives rise to extreme weather events, can even that be called evil? Not really. It's obtuse carelessness and definitive negligence, but it's not really "evil", per se, I guess. What then is sin if God Himself exacted our existence from that void? If, light itself is birthed from it? The "bearer of light" is a fallen angel for the love of all that's good, I mean, "What's THAT about"?! Smh. For real though..., what is that about? I guess I'll cut it off here cause I'm still angry and barely talking to you, Cookie;i

How does confession in silent prayer directly to God work for non Catholics?
@Life-er6mq
@Life-er6mq 2 жыл бұрын
I struggled with this for the year and a half I had to wait to enter the Church (I was just fully received this past Sunday!!!) The best advice I was given is to pray the Act of Contrition, and to set up an appointment with a priest anyway and let them know you haven’t yet been fully received but would like to meet to talk about what is on your heart. I was baptized in the Presbyterian Church though I had attended many different denominations throughout my life. Ultimately, whenever I knew I had too much sin, I fell into the lie that the enemy tempts us with to say, “what’s the point of even praying or reconciling with God or reading my Bible, I’m not good at making God proud.” This is why learning about the Sacrament of Reconciliation was so beautiful to me. What a gift and a miracle to be able to be sure that as with confess our sins with a contrite heart, we walk out being absolved of it all as a saint-in-training. God can feel your contrition and your desire to be forgiven of your sin and he has already forgiven you if you confess them in prayer. But we can be that much more sure that in the sacrament of reconciliation that our perfect contrition absolves us of our sin through Christ’s name when we give a good sincere confession. I hope this helps!

Hi Father Mike, I have a question. How do I discern if my prayers are being answered by God or Satan. I mean when we get desperate for something, that's all we want and our prayers are all about getting what we want. We also tend to manipulate our minds into thinking that what we want is also what God wants. This is a serious problem. Because, Satan knows how desperate we are, he is capable of answering our prayers and make it seem like its from God.

Here is a weird question....what if you have sins or things from the past that you haven't ever either truly or in detail confessed, BUT, you have gone to confession since and the priest HAS forgiven you for those sins and everything else from your past, especially when you have also received anointing of the sick...but you feel you cant confess again for fear of falling into a scrupulosity situation...? What do you do ?

I already heard a response to a similar question like this. Basically, it's not a true confession if you withhold any important detail of your sin. You must say everything to your utmost knowledge. Anything you forgot, or wasn't really sure if it's a sin, then it will be covered by that confession.

I have a heart condition now from Redworth Projects Totnes. I cannot have a career as a Fitness Instructor. - I was all about clean living and keeping fit eating well reading educating myself I was writing a novel. I was compeltey giving to God and humanity but yeah he still threw it in my face. What was the point of being a believer when Satan found a loophole to destroy my heart and life. I was driven insane from 6 months of sleep deprivation the staff did nothing they allowed it to happen. I tried to take my own life but failed as I didn't take enough sleeping tablets I took 30+ I was one of lifes winners now I am a loser of epic proportion. @@rjskeptic5273 I reject the first statement, regarding beliefs vs. choice - before all belief is a choice, or a series of choices. Humans also have the capacity to change their beliefs, for example, every person who has ever converted from one faith to another. How? By choice. Try checking out Jordan Peterson's work if the religious authors don't suit you. I don't agree with everything Peterson has said, such as his insistence on defining belief solely on the basis of how you act. However he does an interesting job of explaining the religious instinct, how individuals form their beliefs, and scattered here and there how choices shape an individual's belief - or at least their ability to recognize truth. Particularly the "maps of meaning" lectures/book. As for what happens to you after life - the same thing will happen to you as happens to everyone else - absolutely everyone else. The confusions regarding Truth and religion in this world will no longer exist after life, and you will still have one final choice to make. So choose wisely.

Honestly, I challenge this church in the direction they intend to have their sin forgiven. As a matter of fact, there's truly only one sin in all mankind, and that's yourself. When you whole-heartedly express to God that you want to be forgiven, you find a starting point to move on with your life. That being said, once forgiven, always forgiven by living with that notion. There's something fundamentally wrong with continually seeking to have your sins forgiven, and it's the fact that you truly never repent. What's wrong with going to God yourself? What I'm getting at here is that there seems to be some sort of disconnect between God and ourselves. Which, I certainly believe these are just sheer common sense principles. We need to heavily rely more on spirit rather than a sacrilege ceremony. You guys are pagan in my opinion.
