Hi Paul, interesting question and my personal view would be yes! What the Ch C lacked in pure performance, she could back up by the modern avionic and EW suite, the radar and V4 electromagnetic head-on capability, and the professional attitude and training of the SAAF Crews! From the pilots to the ground crews to the mission controllers, all of them! We just lacked working in a 'green' radar environment with modern ground radar systems. A type of AWAC and it would have been game on, even with the superior Mig 23 - my take anyway!
