I’m glad you found a way of interpreting the idea of a mirror without it being a literal mirror. There’s also something really creepy about an object being covered up because there’s so much temptation to peak under the covers.

Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for the support on the previous video- I’ve been looking forward to sharing another one. This one was inspired by my item prompt poll, in which mirror won so it was interesting to come up with a unique item based on this theme. I got a lot of inspiration for this one from the Flatline episode of Doctor Who!🙌 I’ve still have a lot of world building I need to develop and solidify, but making these videos are a great way for me to experiment, practise and see what I need to improve on!🙌✨

the short stories are a wonderful way to explore the world you’re making 🤍 they give you areas of the world you might not have thought about before during basic world-building 😊 Super cool! Love the videos!!!

@@lilysillustration I adore Flatline. I think it got a lot of stick at the time if I remember but to me it sits alongside Arrival as a piece of science fiction about communication with a truly alien lifeform. It's not necessarily a monster to defeat, it's just so unknowable in its intentions. What does it want? Does it even have wants? Can we attempt to comprehend it or is the best we can hope for to never come into contact with it again? As whimsical as this mirror painting may appear and the story around it, it begs all those same unsettling questions. And your art work is as stunning as ever.

I love the exploration of the artifacts placed in the nest egg. A chessboard possessed by a demon, a paint that made a cursed canvas, its a really cool concept. Can i have a sugestion? The chessboard needeed touch, the paint needeed sigh... Maybe a artifact that need smell or to be eaten? Or that need a especific time to activate? (Also sorry for my bad inglesh, not my first language)

My theory with the information that it has insperation from flatline is that the dad's consciousness or atleast part of it is trapped inside the painting, since we can't see the painting and it can't make sound he might be inside of it in torture, no idea what will be left of him if the painting will be alone inside a vault for such a long time. But that's a just theory :D I loved the story, I like the mysery of these!
@crystalite-thecritic93966 ай бұрын
This one seems a lot more mysterious and ominous than the ones before, but still intriguing, the fathers state, the Powder and it's contamination, where the mirror shards are- and what it is from, the painting and what it truly contains. Can't wait to hear more about this specific one

Fantastic lore! Beautiful artwork and story! When you mentioned there being shards of mirror in the pigment powder, it reminded me of something… an old fairy tale… Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Snow Queen”, which went on to inspire Disney’s Frozen, started with neither snow, nor queens. It started with a cursed mirror. Essentially, a bunch of demons got together and crafted a magic mirror that would twist your reflection- you would only see your worst traits reflected in it, and your best traits minimized. Then they had the idea to fly up to Heaven, and point the mirror at the all-powerful, perfect God, and see what He reflected. But they were easily rebuffed from Heaven when they tried this. Furthermore, the mirror was shattered into a million tiny pieces… and those pieces scattered over the world… If you got a piece stuck in your eye, you were unable to see the good in anything. But if a piece got stuck in your heart, you would never feel anything good again… …That’s just the prologue to the fairy tale, setting up the conflict for the protagonists. But it got me thinking: what if that merchant was a demon, or a warlock of demons, trying to spread around more cursed mirror shards, in a subtler way… In a way where, without knowing it, a painter would create a new mirror- one which the demons could use as a door to the surface world… If you’ve made it this far, thanks for humoring my little ramble of a fan fiction! I’m excited to see what other artifacts the Nest Egg has in store!!

I like that there's a "film noir" meets fantasy style in this series. All these cursed items seem like there's a lot of people with malevolent intent creating such powerful and devious tools, like bombs set to go off at random when activated by an unsuspecting user. It seems like there's an underworld of assassins and targets who become victims, which is sort of spooky due to all the unknown factors involved. Who ground up a mirror with the paint dust? Was the mirror paint intended to steal the soul of the painter? All the questions this poses keep viewers at the edge of their seats.

Curious... so does the Nest Egg act as a sort of authority on dangerous magic items as well as a security/containment/protection company? The fact that they would put resources towards tracking down possible other victims that are not the paying customer would certainly be strange for a classic business so are they a sort of presiding, governmental organisation or are they bound by specific ethical creeds or something else entirely? Suppose we'll see.
