My father taught me a very specific kind of strength as a boy. 2 decades and a lot of personal loss later the only way I found peace and felt strong was after being kind to myself. I don’t consider myself a good person, but there’s a boy in me somewhere that deserves understanding and patience. Thank you for your video. I'm 16, and I'm a man. Throughout my life, I have heard and seen so many people act like masculinity means feeling nothing at all-like you said, being tough and not responding to emotional situations. At first, it was really hard for me because I've always felt my emotions very deeply, but I was scared to show them and express them because of what people would think and how they could take advantage of me. Fortunately, I've always been wise in the sense of knowing what feels right and what doesn't, and running from my feelings was never an option because of that intuition. With care and consistency, I realized that feeling and having the capacity to express emotions in a healthy and real way is like a superpower-because then you feel free, and you know how to face your fears. Actually, we are free. When we are babies, we naturally know that the only way to survive is by showing our emotions and expressing our needs in ways beyond words. Nowadays, I know that I can feel masculine (and also feminine) without the approval of others. Sometimes, this is hard because people are still very judgmental in that sense, but it's worth it. At the end of the day, we're all human. Finally, I want to share a story about myself. I was 11 years old-it was 2019, my last year of primary school-and we had to choose a jacket with our name and graduation year on it. There were two design options: one featured a wolf with two colors, pink and light blue, and the other had a panther, mostly black with some purple tones. For some reason, the boys decided they would only choose the panther design, while the girls chose the wolf one. When it was my turn to pick, I didn’t care about the decision the others had made-I chose the wolf jacket. Immediately, a boy in my class made a comment: "Write him down as a girl" (because they were keeping track of everyone's choices). One of my friends at the time got really mad at him and said something like, "Why are you saying that?" But I told her it was okay, and I chose the wolf jacket anyway. I think that was the first time I truly knew what I wanted and didn’t care about what others would say. It felt amazing. I realized that I define what makes me feel masculine or feminine. And if you want to (which I highly recommend), you can embrace both-because the idea of masculinity and femininity in society is just a spectrum that you can break if that’s what feels right for you. Not that you need any help coming up with topics, but I would love to see a video about what it's like to grow up in a multi-cultural home. I grew up in one, and my child is growing up in an even more diverse one. I am already facing challenges with it, mostly just with people and their assumptions and expectations, feeling like I belong to more than one culture but having people assume that I belong to neither, or thinking that they know my identity based on what I look like, affecting my own perception of self. I'm not going to assume that you relate to that specifically, but I would love to hear your experience if that's something you're interested in and comfortable with talking about. It's not something discussed often these days, funnily enough, and maybe that's why people can have unintentionally dismissive vocabulary around the subject
