fascinating to note, that ex-gay "therapies" for girls did include make-up tutorials, and "correct" sitting lessons, and housework, (which should tell you what they are really teaching girls) and for boys, and I swear I'm not making this up, football throwing, Gatorade drinking, and the use of the word "dude" thank god, most of these quack evangelical sideshows have been closed, unfortunately not without casualties.

I really hope there will be more from the first half of the book here- the part where she first discovers her sexuality and the part where she meets Lindsey especially. That part, to me, was much more meaningful. This trailer is very promising though and it’s really good to see more lesbian representation in popular media, especially since Chloe Grace Moretz is a fairly high profile actress.
@valetina40356 жыл бұрын
audrey m. Yeah I hope we get to see her and Iindsey and Coley and that her world. That was always the favourite half of the book. I hope it remains in flashbacks but I'm sure this movie will be great anyway

I think the first half of the book is much more dynamic than the second half. LOVE the book. But so far it seems like they've taken the movie in a too-feel-good-indie film direction and it's slightly disappointing.

Maria Isabel Martinez No, it's not that. I think Tanvi Anand said it would suck because Hayley's personality wouldn't fit the role. Not to mention Cameron is supposed to be in high school, which is a look Chloe is able to pull off. Also, come on. Hayley has played straight roles. I'm all for equal casting, but as long as LGBT stories are starting to be told in cinema, I hardly care that at the moment, they're being portrayed by straight actors. It's better than keeping straight actors only playing straight roles and having our stories never told.

I hope this is more directed at extremist Christian denominations and churches. As a Christian who is also bisexual, I will say that this type of church makes up only under 10% of the churches out there. Maybe its just that I'm a Presbyterian, but for the most part, I feel very warm and welcomed into my church community.
@lovethyneighborandhiswife75966 жыл бұрын
The Weekly Film Project 10%? My dude, are you kidding yourself? The “church” which isn’t actually a church it’s a conversion camp, would make up for 95% of Christian church’s. Especially in the 90’s. There are very few church’s out there that are open minded of the LGBT community.
@martakheyfets22356 жыл бұрын
Would you say Presbyterians tend to be more welcoming towards gays in general? Or just your church?
@joeldaviswarren6 жыл бұрын
I'd say the Presbyterian denomination is quite conservative, but I will admit we are very liberal in comparison to, say, the Baptist or Catholic denominations. And my church in specific is very much alike the other Presbyterian ones in that respect. Presbyterians tend to welcome EVERYONE, but don't overtly celebrate LGBT.
@Noa......6 жыл бұрын
The Weekly Film Project Regardless, it does not change the fact that the bible speak out against homosexuals and acts of homosexuality. There has only been increasing acceptance towards lgbt individuals in western societies. And there are hardly any gay friendly chruches.
@Iffmeister6 жыл бұрын
M are churches supposed to be "gay friendly"? What do people mean by that. I'm a Christian. I have friends who are LGBT. I am completely within my rights as a person to believe homosexual acts are sinful, but that's not out of a hate for them, but of the fact that I believe that God's rules are not simply rules but loving principles for living a life with meaning and purpose - which comes from him. At the same time, any true church should welcome all kinds of people. Christianity is about meeting a person - Jesus - not about doing religious things to get to heaven/God/expanded consciousness/to be one with the universe (like every other religion and spirituality). We are tolerant of people. Tolerance means you PUT UP with people, not that you blindly accept what they do because society says you have to. If I meet a gay person I will strive to be their friend, not their enemy. It's not about behavior modification, it's about relationship with God

"I don't think of myself as a homosexual.I don't rrally think of myself as anything." As someone who is pansexual, this line hits so close to home.
