You don't mention the HF-2 and HF-2b anti-ship missiles from Taiwan. Taiwan has over 1,000 of them. The HF-2b is new, and just being produced now. Their range is 250km. Even if their ECCM is not as sophisticated, they will still be able to take out troop ships, and less well defended ships than the lead capital ships of the PLA Navy, which likely have good defenses. The 400 Harpoons Taiwan has can take those out.

The war over taiwan will almost exclusively be an air and missile war. The US will not be able to generate meaningful CAP over taiwan due to the distance their planes need to travel while chinese aviation would mop up taiwan's air force and the PLARF would quickly degrade taiwan's military logistics with sustained strategic bombardment. the only naval assets used by china will be submarines which will lay mine around taiwan's ports and hunt the few sub taiwan has.

The JASSM-ER utilizes a turbofan engine similar to those found in tactical fighter planes, and has an internal structure that allows for additional fuel storage, increasing its range from around 230 miles to over 620 miles. The missile is guided by an internal inertial navigation and GPS unit for most of its flight, which was originally developed for weapons such as the AGM-154 Joint Standoff Weapon. Once the missile reaches its target, it switches to an infrared seeker for terminal guidance.

It would be nice to have at least one for every ship in the People's Liberation Army Navy and their Coast guard which contains many military ships. It'll also be useful to have some for the civilian roll on roll off ships which would be used in an invasion. Obviously, some of the larger targets would need more than one missile but there are others that aren't worth a missile. The promise that everyone assumes that China couldn't shoot any of these down. They have air board early warning and control aircraft with L-band phased array radars. They have drones with the same types of radars. And they have fighter aircraft with X-Band AESA radars They have destroyers and cruisers with dual band AESA radars. Stealthy me a souls can be detected at close ranges and some are going to be shot down

Here we are still making subsonic missiles and try to make them sound scary. They will be very easy to shoot down because they are much too slow. We need to make our new missiles hyper sonic. Sub sonic missiles are what we had over 30 years ago. Evidently our defence subcontracters aren't smart enough to make modern missiles.

If the Chinese Navy invades Taiwan there's another bomb they could use called the "Quicksink." The Quicksink is dropped beside the vessel and it explodes under the hull instantly breaking the ship in two. They could probably use 5000 to 10,000 pound plus Quicksinks to bust the Chinese aircraft carriers in two.

The first sign that hostilities are started by China will be hundreds, maybe thousands, of missiles striking Taiwan (beside cyber attacks). Buildings, infrastructure, military targets and missile silos will be prime targets. If the US is going to use long range missiles to sink the Chinese fleet, then Taiwan needs a different strategy. They need thousands of hidden missiles capable of knocking down large, inner city buildings and factories all over China. If they hit a hundred cities with a hundred bombs there will be nothing left of Chinese manufacturing for years to come. That will be the price of knocking down Taiwan. Russia is doing a huge number on Ukraine without any reciprocal damage. China should not escape the same fate as Taiwan. China will threaten nuclear war, just like Russia but they are way more vulnerable to that than Russia.

Stealth is mainly achieved by the top layer of planes so missles and some bombs that are external don't do much to effect it, because they're under the wings! Is the JASSM-ER another wonder weapon only the US has? This is just an ordinary air-launched cruise missile with a range of about 400km designed for stationary ground target. I would say the Tomahawk cruise missile with a range of 1000km is even more potent, especially launched from a submarine except that both are sub-sonic missiles. How do they compare with the Chinese hypersonic missiles with ranges of 1000km to 3000km? US bombers will be shot down before they even have a chance to launch the cruise missiles...

For many decades now, the USA, especially the military, has been suffering from acronym fatigue. Hopeless jumbles of letters and numbers, introduced by disgruntled members of military command, in order to cripple the fighting forces with mentally and physically wearying nomenclature. During World War 2, in an effort to stave off this nonsense, it was decreed by the cigar and pipe smokers in Whitehall that this would not be allowed to take hold in the UK, with masses of US equipment coming in. Thus the names of tanks and aircraft were given sensible names that normal people can remember, because you can't call absolutely everything "M1".

Well that's all well and good but his suggestion how about doubling the size of the warhead we put on these missiles cruise missiles and hypersonic missiles. If you pay an attention the Chinese have been developing a long-range cruise missiles to decapitate our strike ability by blowing up aircraft carriers their missile has like a two and a half thousand pound warhead we have nothing like that, and the Russians go about things from the same way of thinking there's nothing they build that isn't bigger and heavier than the United States that includes the WarHeads on their missiles on their missile frigates, we need to add more firepower more punch

If the US upgrades these AGM 158 missiles to a speed of Mach 5 or higher, the US already has a hypersonic missile with high flexibility and great destructive power.

Why do ppl think a country of 23 million population, and a defence budget of a 19.1 billion USD can deter a country with 1.4 billion and a defence budget of many times greater from invading? China has so many other ways of hurting Taiwan, just check how much Business does taiwanese have in China, in terms of imports and exports.. not just in food, and other manufactured or semi-manufactured goods.

perhaps calling the AGM 158 the most dangerous missile in the world is not wrong because they have a long range, great destructive power and stealth... But the greatest strength of this missile is that they can be launched from any airship American aircraft carrier with the Rapid Gagon launch system.

I bet CCP would not dare to take Taiwan by forces because PLA forces are not capable of executing such impossible task without suffering massive casualties across the Taiwan Strait. They just could not do it, at least not in the next decade. Just remember, peace through strength and war through weakness.

A 1 million dollar missile that effectively destroy a ship worth hundreds of millions? Seems worth it. Do they really worth as described though? Maybe some real combat testing in Ukraine is needed. I don't think everyone is 100% sold on them
