Hi Dilip, another informative production, I felt angry and deeply disturbed at the poor German Pilots Human remains being found on a subsequent re-dig in a plastic bag.....what sort of person knowingly leaves a Military Pilots mortal remains in a plastic and re buries them, O.k he was a German Fighter Pilot but he had paid with his life serving his Country, that one action taints all the honest hard work that many of the Aircraft Archaeologists have produced and have helped bring loved ones back to their families to be given an honourable burial....shame on you guys who did that to that Pilot, and thank you to all the Honest Hard working Aircraft Archaeologists...thanks again Dilip keep up the good work cheers mate

Another well-balanced and simply-explained presentation of a complicated and controversial subject. Look forward to the next episode.

Thank you Dilip what an interesting and informative series i look forward to seeing the rest . The way things are progressing with the MOD rules on recovery in the series the U.K stance certainly seem to differ from the recent tv program by Guy Martin about the Dutch recovery of missing crew remains from a PFF Lancaster who were willing to put a great deal of effort and substantial expense into giving the missing men and their families a proper burial and some closure.. I know rules need to be in place to stop every Tom Dick or Harry digging up crashed aircraft that may or may not hold human remains but come on MOD don't make things impossible for professional teams ! As for the sad situation of the German pilot and carrier bag that team hopefully never dig again ANYWHERE !

@@sdrury258 very much so regarding the differing approaches of different nations - and having cooperated with the Dutch I know that Captain Geert Jonker and team are exemplary. I won’t comment further because all will become clear as the series unfolds.

My wife's Great Uncle Marcus Kramer DFC RAFVR was one of 'The Few' that are missing. Although he was a pre-War civilian pilot he became an Air Gunner on a Blenheim of 600 Sqd. Awarded a DFC for the raid on Waalhaven when The Netherlands were invaded on 10th May 1940. He went to be an Instructor at Gunnery School and was killed when the Tiger Moth that he was in with his Sqd Leader William Methven, was seen to go down in the River Severn near Chepstow. Marcus' tunic was found, which suggests to me that perhaps he took it off when in the water to swim, however, his body was never recovered. Sqd Leader Methven's body was recovered a couple of months later and he is buried in Newquay. I have often wondered if Marcus' body was in fact recovered, but he was unidentified, therefore buried as an unknown?

@@paulbradford8240 I’m familiar with that crash as I live in Gloucester now, and my old, sadly now late, friend Allan White lived in Chepstow and pioneered researching West Country crashes. So far as I remember from Allan’s files there was no other body recovered, sadly.

A unrelated burning question in my own mind is why does YT's bloody awful "algorithm" or "AI" NEVER throw up "recommendations" such as Dilip's channel? Thank god I stumbled on this. Looking forward to making my way through your work, and to your future productions. That series of books you've produced also looks VERY interesting... I will be giving your work a VERY good coat of "looking over" in the coming weeks. Best wishes.

thank you Dilip !! so they left that german pilot in the ground knowing they had found him and said nothing !!! that is just disgusting behaviour and not only that they effectively looted a war grave !!! that is unforgivable whichever way you look at it , what is wrong with these people ?? , anyway rant over and sorry for that and thank you so much for your content its really interesting , and where i live up here in Northumberland i believe there are some missing pilots up here that were never or partially recovered also from R.A.F Milfield .....Many thanks Shaun.

I think you highlighted the big problem of amateur digs, & difficulties gaining the MOD's & public's trust. If the remains of a pilot (from either side), can be handled in that way, then what is the behavior/morals on the crash site, of one or all members? Do 'souvenirs' not just from the aircraft, but personal possessions get taken as well? A well meaning movement gets it's actions tarnished by the abhorrent few.
