This playlist has been incredibly helpful, a lifetime of APT plus a decade of pretty rough physical labor on top of physical trauma led to excess stress in my lower thoracic region that otherwise would have been placed more on the hips. Moderate to severe back issues persisted post car accident nearly ten years ago, but I never considered my APT to be such a major component of my issues. Working on APT lately has helped to remove some of the stress in my mid spine and I actually see a path to escaping the hell of debilitating chronic pain, at least getting it to be manageable. I've been out of work for 3 and a half months and some things got better with therapy, but APT was never once taken as a consideration and some longstanding issues I can feel are slowly starting to undo themselves. Here's to hoping my 30s wont be as miserable as my 20s!

I can see better with your shirt off. LOL. But seriously, corrective exercises are only partially effective if the SOURCE of the problem is not removed. In this case, high heeled shoes or any shoe with even a moderate lift including men's shoes, big cushy couches that forbade good posture and encourage people to slouch with the pelvis out of alignment, big soft mushy beds that offer the body almost no support and results in pelvic tilt, lumbar pain, etc., and lets not talk about the chairs folks sit in every day all day with no stretching in between or ever!

I have changed to wearing wedge shoes for my APT because I also have fallen arches - so I have to tackle both together. There aren't easy solutions really...

I constantly remind myself of correcting my posture throughout the day. I flattening my back when I´m lying on my back in bed before I go to sleep. I stretches my hips and lower back and work on my abs. I train hard in the gym 4 times a week so I have no problem getting the strength in. My lower back feels pretty good after a couple of weeks of constant reminder to not "relax" and curve my back. Now I can stand still longer without the lower back starting to ache and tense up. I really have hope for the future to be able to not even have to remind me of the posture, it´s my new natural. :) A big thanks to this channel.

I know it's an old post but I hope you reply... How do you keep your abs and glutes tense without squeezing your stomach and getting heartburn? Especially after eating?
@memorycard10004 жыл бұрын
@@Sk0lzky Late answer, sorry. I don't squeese like crazy. Just tuck the butt under, learn to control the pelvis. You don't have to squeeze them like crazy. Same with abs. Just a slight tension to keep the stomach from just protruding straight out. ☺️ And to be real, I'm not perfect. I still get sloppy and walk like a duck at times and have to start reminding me again.
@memorycard10003 жыл бұрын
@Viral Mama REBORN First, I'm no professional ofcourse. ☺️ So, it's just my thoughts on the matter. I don't think you should stress about how you sleep. Once you're asleep you have no power over how you lay. You twist and turn in your sleep anyways, right? So, make as much correction excercises you feel good with during the hours you're awake. It's a balance. If you do too much you grow tired of it and stop doing it at all. That's what I mean with do as much as you feel good with.

I have anterior pelvic tilt as well as several other back issues. I try to follow the advice to pull in the navel slightly while walking to use the abs and to stabilize the low back and it makes my back lock up in pain. I have facet syndrome/osteoarthritis of the facet joints and when I consciously try to correct the APT while walking it makes the pain way worse. I have pars stress fractures in the l4-l5 and l5-s1so maybe it is the fractured areas destabilizing or moving out of their usual groove? If anyone can offer some advice on this I very much appreciate it.

I thought having an arch in my back like that was a good thing. Until I started having problems with everything from peeing to pooping to having an orgasm. All of my muscles were screwed up. Going to the doctor was scary but having a personal trainer fixed everything.

There is Too Much vidéo on strech and technique but nobody Talk about the main problem , that is your mind connection with the pelvis ,non one need to exercice for this , you juste need to 24/7 think about holding your pelvic Up , the main problem is your brain is not train to hold your pelvic in the correct position , so train the brain/ muscle connection

I have APT for few years maybe,after long period of sitting work and stresses maybe. But last year was super awful for me. My abs/glutes not weak(a can do plank in ideal posture for 4-5 min - easy,18-24 clean pull ups on bar ,and so on),but low back muscle pain in last months is a killer for me - i dont understand what causes it. I did standart *lower cross syndrome* training from 90% APT videos on youtube, stretching low back/hip flexors,training abs/glutes,hamstrings - and non of them worked for me.😓😓😓

What if any flexed back position gives you pain. I.e. if I stand my low back gets tight and creates pain but then if I lay down and round my back the pain goes away. Should I still practice the flexed/anterior position or try and stay neutral or posterior?

I am a spine doctor. Do the exercises to your tolerance. To decrease your symptoms when you stand, bend your hips and knees slightly or put one foot up on a footstool or chair. Everything I've seen the upright health team do and recommend is 100% correct. The points he is giving here are the same points I give my patients multiple times daily. The role of the physician should be to decrease your pain so that you can tolerate these exercises. I emphasize that to my patients always. ANYTHING the doctor does to decrease your pain is temporary until the underlying problems (APT and hunchback posture) are fixed (and it can only be fixed by the patient). So, if you don't have a skilled trainer/therapist who can work with you and show you how to do it comfortably and/or you worked with one and it failed, a physician may be able to provide anti-inflammatories/pain meds to allow you to tolerate these exercises. Last case resorts are injection procedures then surgery, depending on the problem. Even if any of these medical treatments decrease your pain, you STILL have to correct your APT or you may eventually get some sort of return or new spinal pain. I shake my head in amazement every time someone brags to me how they had some procedure that "totally cured" their pain and within two sentences later complain about their new spine problem. Good luck.

I have a 1.5 hour stretch every day and I'm exhausted. Can you please give me any tips? I used to think my fallen arches were my biggest problem but I now realise all the years of pain have come from APT I guess :( How long will it take?!
