Grew up in an old, stiff southern baptist church that had a piano and a pipe organ only. This lively music does so much more to inspire my faith than a lot of those old piano hymns ever could. As a guitarist who loves the blues and has some spirituality about himself (I consider myself to be a christian), gospel music hits so much harder to my soul than any boring piano and organ church hymn ever could. Plus, it's just such an awesome thing that all of the gifted singers in this choir are fully comfortable with, and not afraid to share and use their musical talents that the lord gave them to their full extent. In white churches, that soulful bluesy sound doesn't exist at all. I think that old-style gospel music has so much more of an impact on a much deeper level to the listener. That really brings a lot more potential to have the listener connect with what is being said and expressed throughout gospel music. Something about that style just really connects on a different level.
In Mississippi our churches were still doing the Dr. Watt's Call to Worship in the Early 2000s.❤❤

I'm happy to be from Mississippi also. I'm not black though. Mama was Russian and daddy is Choctaw and French. We didn't go to church when I was a kid in Jefferson county because daddy was always drinking. I would sometimes ride my bike down the road to the M.B. church and sit outside and listen to them sing on Sunday morning. I think it brought a lot of healing to my hurting soul. Helped me know that there was Someone above us who watched us and didn't let anything too bad happen. I'd just sit under a window and listen and sometimes cry. The ladies would give me fried chicken or catfish afterwards. My little brother would come for the food but he didn't listen to the singing like me. Daddy didn't want us hanging out at a black church. I remember one lady named Miss Ophilia. Sweet, good folks. I left Mississippi when I was 18 but that was a big mistake. I go to the Russian Orthodox Church today, but I still love listening to this Gospel music. We might be a bit separated in Mississippi, but we all Missippians, black, white, indian, even the Chinese in the Delta. One day Jesus is gonna bring us all together. Thank y'all. I love what the worship leader said I too come from the old church where they would be having church before church time in an old wooden church on rock pillars. Me and my brothers would look under the church and could see the floor bouncing from all the shouting. My grandma played the piano she loved playing before church and that’s what ushered in the presence of the Lord. I’ve seen people shouting around a red hot stove in the middle of the church and grab the stove pipe unharmed as a child I saw and believed. We’ve drifted away from this type of worship....... I still love the Lord! Godspeed brethren!

Beloved, I don't know you in person but God knows you. God ministered to me in a revelation when I was on your profile to see things around you,I saw blessings but spiritual attacks holding onto them,in prayers,i saw a woman in the realm of the spirit monitoring and plotting delay in your life, with an evil mirror, and with a motive to destroy. But as I speak to you now her time is up, Render hand of favour with Anything you can afford or give to these motherless foundation (GOD'STIME MOTHERLESS FOUNDATION) in kebbi state nigeria before 2DAYS with faith, as I Rise my hands towards heaven and pray for you they shall serve as point of contact wherever you are, you will receive double portion of grace to excel and total restoration of breakthrough in your life and in the life of your family. Ask for their acct details and help them call the MD in charge of the orphanage to get their details on (WhatsApp or call them now on +2347057027676) tell him I sent an you. For it is not by might nor by in power but of the spirit saith the lord (zechariah 4:6). You shall testify to the Glory of God in your life God bless you...

I'm not a Christian or religious, but this puts a smile on my face. The unity of people to perform a singular task and producing the most beautiful sounds I have heard.

God wants us to be ever moving forward so we can discover the fullness of the life He came to provide. And as people who follow Him, we want to go forward too. We desire all the fullness of life that God offers to us.

I live in Prague, Czech Republic 🇨🇿 And just yesterday the local church in my neighborhood was visited by a choir from Iowa USA…that was no gospel music like this, it was old Catholic singing, but OH MY GOD that sound…it filled every cell of my body. Mind you I’m normally not even religious, but religious music is something that makes me believe in God for a little moment…

I love this *old-style Black chanting,* also called *lining out the hymn:* the literate person in the slave church would call out a line of a hymn, and the *entire congregation chants back,* using old slave melodies they had composed among themselves. This distinctive way of singing/praying is kept alive in many *Black Baptist* churches, and reflects the deepest, most fervent expression of our *Judeo-Christian faith* we brought with us across the Atlantic! *Praise God* for a *living faith in the Living God,* passed down through our foremothers, forefathers and elders, the African Hebrew tribes and ethnic groups that survived the horrors of the Middle Passage.
