One of best psychedelic songs ever recorded. The Misunderstood truely lived up to their name: overlooked by almost everybody (apart from John Peel of course), but boy what a potential they had, could have been massive if fate had been kinder to them.

I have no doubt in my mind these guys would’ve made one of the greatest psychedelic rock albums ever had things not gone down the way they did. They were truly one of the best and most unique of that era

"The best popular record that has ever been recorded." (John Peel on 'I Can Take You To The Sun', 11 August 1968) "By God, they were a great band! If they hadn't been broken up by the US Government when they tried to draft Rick ... they would have ruled the world, I think." (JP, 26 August 1999) "If I had to list the ten greatest performances I've seen in my life, one would be The Misunderstood at Pandora's Box, Hollywood, 1966. It was the only time I've seen an audience reduced to silence." John Peel

"In 1966 I was living and working in San Bernardino, California and I went to a shopping center in the nearby town of Riverside to … witness the opening of a new shopping mall along with a band called the Mystics, who were playing there. And also playing there that afternoon was a band called the Misunderstood, one of the very best bands that I ever saw in all of my life.” ( John Peel

I thought THE VIDEO was an official video right out of 1966. The video might have been created now but looks and feels like 1966. Song is very psychedelic and is drenched in acid like many of the songs in 1966 thru 1970, but this song and GROUP are a cut above and are special!😀

Before the Dream Faded (1965) might have been the first album ever, is the first time ever the album concept was coined. The songs from the first side are very different, but flow beautifully making them whole. And it's all illustrated in a visually wonderful album cover. I don't think anyone had ever done this before The Misunderstood.

Another great upload from your go to psychedelic channel. This is the beginning of psychedelic era before the bandwagon came along and that’s why it stands out. One of the most appropriate names for a rock band.

My favourite psychedelic band !!! This is the genuine article - pure psychedelia performed by an innovative group of talented musicians who had their heands completely in line with the feelings of the time - terrific and trult epic . A whole year ahead of its time !!!

Yeah, I really like these guys. I first heard them on MOJO's 'Acid Drops Stardust and Flying Saucers' (2002?), a great 4-CD set that introduced me to underground UK psych. The Bamboo's 'Fox Has Gone to Ground' (1968) is also on there and is worth checking out (song lyrics: 'In marble cities, the tripping lasts til dawn...'). My psych song of the day, in addition to this one, is The Turnstyle, 'Riding a Wave.' (1968) These bands might well have been trying to replicate the euphoria of being high via music!

I rise in the morning, with an open mind With guitar and song I drift, the Sun is what I find Because love I am as you are love And I never stop to doubt As I seen the meaning of the word That glows within not out Cos I rise in the morning, beneath an open sky With guitar and song I drift, and never stop to cry Because love I am as you are love And I never stop to doubt As I seen the meaning of the word Which glows within not out [Instrumental] Well I speak of love but you do not see Cause words are words and they mean nothing more With half a mind you laugh at me Cause I speak of colors you’ve never seen before You’ve existed in a lie, that will some day show I can take you to the Sun, to the Sun But you don’t want to go I can take you to the Sun, to the Sun But you don’t want to go I can take you to the Sun, to the Sun But you don’t want to go

a couple more: -Julian’s Treatment - Altarra. Princess Of The Blue Woman - Julian Jay Severin kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6CcpGaroM1-rqc A haunting little sci-fi psych piece with gorgeous xylophone and great vocals -The Apple-Glass Cyndrom - Someday a wicked psychedelic acid bender from 1969 New Mexico with mind-blowing fuzz guitar and a Hammond that comes at you in wave after wave! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHSnooOXdrWpf5o "Members of this New Mexico group included Bill Aguirri (lead vocals), Jon Williams (lead guitar), Scott Rebtoy (bass), Dale Sills (drums), and Johnny Mulhair (keyboards). They released one single in 1969 which is absolutely outstanding. The A-side has some excellent keyboard work while the flip is a fuzz guitar monster."
