This is what it comes down to, really. Jon doesn't want to retire with a loss (atleast one he deems to be a true loss). Like Mayweather near the end of his career, he will pick and choose and manage risk, much like how Mayweather waited for Pac to lose a step till he fought him or fight Canelo mad early. I agree to a point. It’s normal to have favourites based on fight style, notable performances, personality etc, but I hate the blinkered and biased viewpoints most mma fans have. It’s healthier to accept your favourite fighters losses and limitations (being the best on the planet isn’t everything, the 109th best is still cool as fk), or just change your favourites over time in response to the changing landscape. I’m not at all ashamed to say that Justin used to be my favourite fighter and now Max is. Seems an entirely logical position given everything we’ve seen.
