​@@BoHror933That's not it all. And in a grappler vs striker fight the grappler will almost always win. So grapplers need very little protection. The reason the rule exists imo is because it makes the sport look less barbaric and bloody who ultimately makes it more digestible and thus more marketable to a wider audience. It's the same reason why gloves are worn. Because fights become less bloody when your not bare knuckle fighting.

When a guy is standing he can absorb the impact by bouncing back or moving his head. When he is grounded there is far less possibilities to dissipate the impact of the strike, and the marge of error for the striker is almost 0. The UFC just don't want to deal with dead people, just imagine someone lying on the ground, taking a clean knee on the head.

They can go to Nevada and say "Were going to move all Nevada fights to another place if you dont adopt our new ruleset" and then other states will follow suit. Because the rules are based on state athletic commissions it’s a big risk for the UFC to try and push to make rule changes like this because some commissions might not except the new rules and cause more confusion for everyone. If they start to sanction themselves like they do when they are out of the country sometimes they could implement changes like this.

When changes to the scoring criteria were made it took years for a handful of states to move to the new system. And one of the states that didn’t change was Texas, whose governor is friends with Dana White. Getting one SAC to do anything is difficult, let alone all getting all of them to do something in unison. Saying all you have to do is look at the evidence to governmental bodies in the united states is a laughably naive statement.

the only point of the fence is so the fight can be watched it’s supposed to be treated like a wall because there are far more walls than gates when street fights happen, also eyeholes and groin shots are obviously fouls don’t start

That’s not even comparable. We’re not saying allow shots to the back of the head or elbows to a spine. Getting kicked in the face is the same whether you’re grounded or not. I’m not saying allow curb stomps. But soccer kicks and knees should be fine against grounded opponents who put themselves in that position. It worked in pride. And ONEfc to DJ . And DJ fixed that part of his game.

Preach it Guru, I agree totally. ONE does allow those knees, and you see the panic from grapplers that screw up the takedown, they need to scramble so they dont get kneed, it makes for better fights.

This rule and 12-6 elbows. Flying knees, Muy Thai clinch knees, slicing elbows to the eyes, kicks to the knees, standing headkicks... all legal moves which can end a fight and cause serious injury, but can be illegal in very similar positions

You're absolutely right, also 12 to 6 elbows should be legal but honestly also headbutts, so no accidental cut can ruin the fight or impact it negatively/unfairly. I mean why would a headbutt be more dangerous than an elbow, knee, shin or knuckles to your head? Nobody would use a headbutt as an attack as well, since it's obviously impractical and dangerous for your own head, so it's just something that happens in a fight and shouldn't be punished or lead to a NC or DQ.
