there is no "entertainment" in women's MMA....Dana knew it back in the day, that only a handful of select females would generate enough attention to make it worth while and he was spot on....Starting with Rousey as the first woman, moving to Holm as the first pro boxing champ to cross over and win, and then to Nunes as the first 2 division champ....there were no other women that had anything to offer and to this day, it's the draw of the men's fights that creates the funding for the women....backed by stats...this is not based on sexism, but individuals and what they've brought to the table...Pena is riding the coattails of not just the other women, but she's being paid with the money generated by the men.

It's the nature of the differences in bodies, skeletal structure, bone density, musculature...if there was a woman that was holding her own and beating some of the top guys in the same weight class, I'd absolutely watch...but that's not going to happen, so they end up feeling amateurish in comparison...same moves/techniques as the men, just slower....

I will say that with Julianna Pena at least the fair majority of her wins ended by finishes ( more particularly a little over 50% of her her fights fish by submission ). With Colby over 50% of his wins ended by decision. In other words Colby is a point fighter in a grappling sense ( similar to Belal Muhammad ) where he's fighting not to lose if that making any sense. I don't think fans ( especially casual fans ) are going to be interested in seeing that. By the way Julianna Pena and Colby Covington character persona come off as corny where I feel like I'm literally watching one of those cheesy opening porn scenes with bad acting. With other personalities like Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Israel Adesanya, the Diaz Brothers, Sean Strickland, Michael Bisping, and a few others like them come off as charismatic and genuine with also being at least a top-10 skilled fighter to even being a world champion when they were in their prime. FYI if you're want to see drama, then go watch a reality television show like Jersey Shore or something like that. A Combat Sports organization like One Championship can prove that they can grow a fanbase with just putting on good to great fights that are both entertaining and technical.

Are you in any way kidding? Nunes had a knee injury (well documented) and literally coming back from a disease that attacks the respiratory system (also well documented). The woman was still coughing for God's sakes. She gassed out during the second round. I don't buy her excuses, if she was truly affected and that was the sole reason as to why she lost then there would be no need for her to change anything about how she normally fights, but she changed everything up to address the dipping jab, the reason she gassed was because she got frustrated and pretty much pulled a Cyborg,, tried to finish Peña, because Peña was popping her and rocking her. Nunes has no Head movement and always has her chin up in the air (This hasn't changed) She also has shown poor cardio in several fights like vs Cat, Alexis, Val 1st fight, GDR rematch, Peña 1st fight. She was able to work around that by pacing herself better like against Val in the rematch which was a slow paced point fight. Did she have covid for all those fights too? Nunes made a new strategy to counter the jab, nothing crazy about Peña also having the opportunity to try and counter the right hook. The jab was important in Peña's win, and the Right hook in the southpaw stance was key for Nunes' win. The reality is these 2 are 1-1.
