He's not wrong. Most city highways that are 55 mph have people driving an average of 70. In fact, if you tried going 55, you'd be a hazard on the road with people constantly trying to pass you. Speed limits are largely outdated because modern cars can safely handle higher speeds. And for the small towns that make ridiculously low speed limits just to mess with people and make money on traffic tickets, well that's pathetic and in no way for the safety of society. It just makes people stress out while driving for no reason.

My brother was killed by a reckless driver who was speeding when he was 16 and I was 13. It wasn't funny to me or my family. The grief of losing your only sibling at such a young age I wouldn't wish on anyone. It lead to the divorce of my parents, who before that happened were the happiest, most in love couple you would ever have seen. It was a constant pain to my mom for the rest of her life. Not sure about my dad because after that happened he became pretty stoic and never would talk about it. To this day it bothers me not having a brother and my son not having an uncle. I often wonder what life would have been like he was still around.
