For the girls shorter than 5'7 please don't be discouraged usually if u have something that makes you stand out they will make exceptions, so don't just say I can't do it bc I'm not tall enough, still try and don't stop.

I am thin, 5'9 & I got signed with a modeling agency this summer. I didn't get scoutsd but I just put up some info online, they called and set up an audition, I went to the audition and got in. So far I have done an Ad for aeropostale and a spread i. a Kohls catalog. I'm really excited because I'm getting there.

This is true, when I was younger (14/15) I was the ideal weight for modelling and had two opportunities actually to model... I was more concerned with passing exams and getting into university, now i'm 19 and at uni I wish I took the chance when I could!

As someone who has recently been scouted at 5'6", I think the exception to the rule is that you NEED to look VERY different. VERY unique. VERY thin. There are exceptions to every rule

I'm from Belfast, Northern Ireland. I'm 18 and 5'10....I was at the shops with a few of me mates when this was going on, they kept telling me to go and try out. But that's just not my cup of tea...I'm not the type of person to put me self out there like that. So I kept me distance....

You can be a model as long as you're 5'7 and over. Though for runway it will be unlikely as they are generally 5'9-6'+. I'm tall enough but not skinny enough to do runway. Its a shame as Ive done it before and love the energy and atmosphere but I really do not want to be stick thin, so at the moment Im modeling swimwear and underwear. Hope everything goes well for you hun x

You can still model. There are some 5ft models out there. I have the same problem as you, but if you prove that one inch doesnt stop you from doing just as good, you can make it! (:

Its not a matter of size that makes one pretty, correct. Its because the models need to fit into the clothes they make. The tall height is because it substitutes a stretched canvas of the clothes they are displaying. Like a manikin. Its why they divide it into categories; high fashion, plus size, petite etc. They make roughly one size of clothing for each. These scouts are looking for the runway category, but I've seen plus sized do high fashion as well. ALL BEAUTIFUL (: So, anyone can model!

nope. you have to be small to be one kind of model. this is not the beginning and end of modeling. there's catalogue work, plus-size work (a lot of them really aren't plus-sized, but hey the world is messed up), portfolio gigs, so much out there, that needs different body types and sizes. so yeah. :)

depends on the person; but as long as you stay away from smoking, drinking and coffee, you should stop around 18-20 for the average female.

That's a GREAT height! If you have good posture, good poise, carry yourself well, every girl will envy you. It feels awkward at your age but trust me, when you're older, you'll be thankful! I'm only 5'6 so yeah. :)

Sighs the majority of ppl who don't understand aren't even Fashion Concious people. I hate this side of the industry because model agencies do take FULL advantage of young girls because they are desperate to make it. However as a person who has studied fashion and designs myself life is much more simple if every model comes in around the same height and size. No stress... No Garment failures.

Actually, you only need 1. And there are lots of other modeling venues that are open to more diverse heights -- it really depends more on your body structure and versatility to sell clothing/cosmetics/etc. You don't have to be a runway model to be successful.

I think the hieght your gonna be is 5'5 or 5'6 , and the reason why its because most tall girls like me already hit the 5'7-5'9 mark when they're 14, and most models start modeling at fourteen.

Ditto here! Men/boys totally prefer shorter girls because they look cute and helpless - my height intimidates them. Also, if you're short you can wear amazing high heels and platform shoes, which would make me a giant. :-(
