My favorite outfit of yours is the black blazer/black turtleneck with khaki pants. It's very dressy but it really flatters your figure. I love that you shared your trick about photographing yourself with the tripod, and I've been doing that now for a week or so. It is REALLY helpful to see how things fit/look in a video. I discovered that the beautiful burgundy turtleneck sweater I wore with some neutral grey plaid pants looks terrific in the front view (still) photo, but in the video I did NOT like my silhouette, so switched out the sweater to a blouse. Much more flattering to my very curvy figure. I also discovered that if I wear a cardigan or jacket over the unflattering stretchy top it camouflages the large bust. With belted pants I still look like I have legs (I'm 5'2"), and a waist. Thanks for all the many tips, Kay!

Some interesting layering ideas here, thank you. I would find layering a jumper as a final piece over a blazer or coat looks a teeny weeny bit ‘overdone’ and uncomfortable. Think great over a tee shirt in the summer. The black jumper and blazer over the tan trousers looked lovely.

I love mixing prints. My favorite combination is a small floral patterned button up blouse under a striped crew or v-necked or even Henley neck pullover; shirttail either tucked in or peaking out under the sweater. The J Crew Liberty print shirts look really great this way. A striped mariner pullover looks great over a print shirt with jeans.

Cropped tops/sweaters (or tucked in) forever! Wearing long tops hanging out visually cuts the body into two equal halves, it’s not a pleasing proportion. Plus, long tops give a brick-like shape to the body and completely obscures the best of our shapes.

Thank you, Kay. I always like your outfits. I have many similar pieces and can duplicate those looks. I remember when I was a child, women used to wear black turtlenecks under white shirts. It was sort of a "Beat Nik" kind of look. It is an interesting look and very nostalgic for me. I need some courage to wear that again. It looks great on you as do all the outfits here. I loved the camel slacks and black blazer outfit the best. This year I bought a pair of red slacks from Talbots and now that the holiday is over, I am wondering about wearing them again. ;-) I used to have "shocking pink" slacks but I never wore them, so I donated them. I don't, but I appreciate that Kay doesn't say any of these items are "affordable ", like so many KZbinrs do.. Many people can't afford Talbots or comparably priced stores. She says the items are "reasonably " priced, which I take to mean the price is reasonable for the quality of the item. Makes much more sense, and doesn't insult her viewers who are on tighter budgets.

Although I’m not one to purchase bright pink trousers, I was surprised at how well they worked with the camel sweater. This layering video is timed well, as here in the Pacific Northwest, the current weather is cool in the mornings, but warming up during the day. Layers are so important with this weather, as you can strip them off as it warms. Thanks for your great ideas!

I noticed that Japanese street wear is taking a sweater layer and wrapping over one shoulder, under the opposite arm and tying. It’s an interesting stylish look. Also, the Veronica Beard Blazer has a zip in denim insert that resembles a jean jacket without the bulk.

I do like the 1st outfit with the stipes and plaid. Looks modern. With the other outfits the ones with the blazers are more me and the other are too casual for my style even though I am retired, I really enjoy my blazers. I am a blazer girl! I like the pink pants and you putting them with camel is fine for you, but I bought a blazer, cashmere sweater and vest in the camel last year and ended up getting rid of them. Camel washes me out. I was thinking that I would do navy instead of the camel for me. I think this would work. Your thoughts on this idea? I am not too crazy about the sweater looped over the top of coat or other top. I know it is a preppy look and I do like preppy and wear it sometimes, like mixing prints but the other look is too messy for me, and it would end up falling off me ont the ground etc.

I loved the plaid blazer and the vests. I tried buying some wide leg jeans but had to return them. I’m 5’10” and thought I could get away with it but just couldn’t. They look too voluminous to me and that’s why I’m not a fan of the wide leg pants in the last outfit. I always learn something from your videos, so thank you!

Hi Kay. Thanks for these layering tips. The chambrey shirt outfit is my least favorite. It just looks so frumpy to me. I agree with a previous comment about sneakers with dress pants being a no for me. And, the sweater draped over the coat makes no sense to me. I would just use a scarf instead. If you are out in snow, your sweater will get all wet if it is on top of your coat. Lastly, I wear layers for warmth (I think that is the primary purpose for layering), so leaving everything open (unzipped, unbuttoned, etc) as you have done in most of these outfits makes no sense to me at all. Just my two cents. Everyone should wear what they feel good in. Thanks for the video. 😊

A sweater over the coat ?? 🤨 There's something about draping a sweater over the shoulders , w/ or w/out a coat underneath , that suggests " getting dressed in public " 😂 if you need to put it on for warmth . I like the black over tan pants best and then I like the first one with the longer jacket. I find it hard to wear the cropped or shorter vests, jackets, etc. I'm busty and so its out of proportion for me to wear cropped tops, plus they seem to hit right at the problem area. So many of us have lost our waistlines, as our bodies have shifted. The shorter tops and jackets I think really accentuate that and cut us in half visually so that's one trend I just can't go along with.

I am not a fan of sneakers at all, but I am probably in the minority on this one - I would rather see a pretty flat or kitten heel. My favorite was the pink pants/camel sweater outfit - the most modern (IMHO!). I felt the others would be difficult to wear, too many pieces making movement more restricted. I don't get a sweater over a coat - surely a scarf would make more sense. I did notice that the camel pants and the pink pants had fold marks - do you fold your pants? You're tall - so it's easier for you to pull these looks off - but man of these would look bordering on ridiculous on a short, round person like myself!

Hi Kay, I love your style and watch/listen to you everyday. I am about the same size as you, but a little hippier. After 3 C-sections in my younger years I have developed an apron belly that seems to be getting more prominent. I love the look of tucked in shirts, etc., but when I do that I end up either changing my top or leaving it untucked because I don't like the way it makes my stomach appear large. The first outfit seems off to me / my eye has learned to be pleased with the 2/3 rule of proportion. This outfit seems too half and half in proportion. All the other outfits followed the 2/3 proportion and looked very pleasing to the eye
